Bands that should give it up

This has nothing to do with what bands you like or dislike, it's about what band doesn't live up to the quality that they once were anymore, they still may be a band you enjoy, but maybe are slipping. I got this idea off of Metal Sludge as they have their 20 questions every week with a different rock star and always ask what band should give it up and call it a day (in those exact words). I'm just wondering what bands everyone out there thinks needs to go ahead and give it up. Just try not to go too far out of your favorite genres, as that's how you'll probably come up with the best answers. Here's a few.

Van Halen - Either get DLR back or give it up. They haven't had anyone since DLR that matched up to him (even though Sammy Hagar wasn't too bad), and I don't think ever will. Besides, Eddie's got cancer, and if it gets real bad, then he should spend more time on fighting the cancer rather than playing music.

Warrant - They're still trying to sell that hair image that went bad so long ago, if they were smart they'd just give it up and stop trying to sell themselves with that image.

Motley Crue - Two words: New Tattoo.

I'm not a fan of hair metal bands at all, and I guess that really showed with my last two, but they're at least remotely close to my genre of choice (metal), so that's an example on how that works (just thought I'd point that out).

BTW, this is not a thread meant to bash any bands or musicians, just simply to say who's still got it and who doesn't, if you've never liked the band or anything close (or anyone close to you), then don't even bother putting them down. Answers like "so I won't have to listen to them" aren't what I'm looking for here, just thought I'd explain so that this thread remains civil.

I certainly agree with Van Halen. Gary Cherone was an embarrasment to all concerned! New Tattoo was OK if you liked Motley's early stuff, and I don't know about Warrant as I haven't heard any of their latest stuff.

As for what bands I'd choose - I reckon WASP have just about had their day. I saw them live a couple of years ago, including playing Animal.........., but I don't like their newer stuff at all.

Aerosmith, they're a total shadow of their former self. What's this "Fly Away From Here" crap? Gimme some "Sweet Emotions" or "Walk this Way" any day over that stuff. It's so sappy I can hardly stand it.

Limp Bizkit! They just released a horrible remix album, lost Wes... now they are doing a radio contest or whatever to replace him lol how sad is that

These aren't bands but...

Backstreet Boys
Nsync

Espacially BSB isn't the one like 40 or something now? lol

I think Limp Bizkit should give up, they are done now, besides they will live rich off royalties for years.

I couldnt agree more. They made it big, but bands never live forever and they need to know when enough is enough. It will happen because if one member leaves, they all will

Didn't pantera pyscho say not to judge on if u like them or not, but rather by if they are slipping or not from what they once were.....CedarFairMaster, how can Aaron carter be slipping, isn't he like 12? And as far as all the boy bands and etc, they're still outselling everyone else so I guess they're not slipping. I definately think Motley Crue has to go

rap? u cant make everyone in rap give up just because you dont like them. You sound like some 80's guy from footloose saying its only a fad created by the devil. Rap is here to stay, and is VERY popular.

Britney should not give it up, did madonna give up? no. Neither should boys bands, theyre good at it and make good music, so they deserve to stay.

Any hard working band/performer deserves to stay. Just because people get bored of a band doesnt mean the band should give up.

I think some of you are missing the point. We're not talking about pop star fads, more so longtime bands/artists. Here are 2 that come to my mind right now:

MetallicA - although they're my favorite band, they really need to go back to heavy stuff. Although their new stuff isn't totally horrible, its not very good. Its almost progressive rock..

Aerosmith - The fact that they sang with Britney Spears should tell you something. They're a once great classic rock band trying to be cool with the teeny-boppers. Either they should go back to their awesome stuff or quit.
