| | | Do you plan to work at a park sometime? Anybody plan to work at a park sometime? For those who have, please post your experience and answer some of our questions. I know that I want to work at SFGAm when im old enough (I think you have to be 16 to op there, three more years). I hope to work at either Raging Bull, American Eagle, or Viper.
When im in college, I plan to work at Cedar Point. I would like to op either Magnum, Raptor, or Power Tower. |

| | | I'd highly reccomend it to everyone who is of age and interested. It's a very unique experience and I can't think of anyone I know who doesn't enjoy it. You will meet so many people who will become your new family and stay in contact with them for a long time. It's fun, exciting, and let's not mention all the perks you'll get too. I still don't consider it hard work, I feel like I'm just having a great time with friends and getting paid for it. When I don't feel like that anymore is when I'll stop working at my park. I'll answer any questions if you guys have any, and I'm sure Melissa will do the same and everyone else who is or has been a ride op on these boards....although, I think this is a repeat topic, we'll see. |

| | | I guess I'd like to, but the only problem is would this be mixing business with pleasure? Will coasters still be fun and exciting afterwards? |

| | | This isn't quite a repeat, but it is more of a General Talk... Of course I'll answer any questions about working at parks (specifically, Cedar Point) that anyone has. I, too, would highly recommend the experience, but only if you first realize that it is incredibly different than just visiting a park -- I know a lot of people have been turned off amusement parks because they went to work there thinking it would be a great party and lots of free time to ride, and believe me, it's not. Not even close. But if you have questions, feel free to ask them here or PM or email me directly if you wish. I might take a bit to respond, but I do try! Also, look for my website to go up sooner or later -- it's all employee-type stuff about Cedar Point, and I plan a lot of articles to focus on the how's and what's of being a park employee, in more departments than just rides.

| | | I was thinking of doing it, except at the "other end of the
career rainbow"... i.e. retire [somewhat] early, move to FLA
and drive a boat for Disney or something...
If I was young and lived near a park I would work there...
certainly beats mixing potato salad in a deli, which is what I ended up doing.
Had a roomate in college that was a manager at one of the
burger stands in SFGAdv...

| | | I'd love to work at CP, but my job is probably more work than wat Melissa speaks of, I spend my summers working for $16 an hour fixing computers/copying papers and running arrands at the Chrylser Technology Center (DaimlerChrysler World Headquarters) I got a job there from my mom, where she works. Oh yeah I'm suppossed to be talking about working at Cedar Point, well since I could have a better job I won't and I already have college paid for, and two cars, so I might want to live at Breakers for the summer and go to the park everyday, you know what, thats not a bad idea...

| | | I plan to get a job at SWF or Universal Orlando the next couple summers. I hope to raise funds to eventually go on a trip in a few years with my friend to a good lot of the east coast parks. That is just theory as of now though... :)

| | | If I ever work at a park it will probably be at Kennywood, it is the closest park to me and I would like to run a games section, I have always liked Midway games and I want to work at one. But, if I happened to get stuck to a rollercoaster, that would not be too bad, :D

| | | miX, you can always check to see if the park offers employee housing. Cedar Point does, obviously, and it's cheap as dirt too (and boy, you get what you pay for... :D), but that's certainly an option. Some parks do, some parks don't, it's just something to check out.
