| | | BMG Music Service I'm thinking about joining one of those music clubs where you supposedly get 12 cds for the price of one. I know it sounds like theres a catch but I think its a good idea and i'm thinking of doing it this time. My dad said he joined them and it was worth it in the begining, they really do pay for and then it changes and you have to quit it cuz you have to pay then. If you don't know what i'm talking about go here: http://www.bmgmusicservice.com/enrollment/mathbox.jhtml
they say pick 7 cds free (pay for S&H) buy 1 within a year, and then got 4 more..
Has anyone ever joined one of these before and can tell me about it?

| | | I use CDHQ which is pretty much the same thing! I really think that the club is great! I have no problems with it! I have gotten many CD's free other than S/H! I would reccomend it to you! I have even boughten CD's and only listen to them once and then sold them on Ebay and got twice the money for them! There is no catch, I have been with them for about 1.5 years now!!

| | | Damn really? But don't you eventually have to pay for some of them? That seems kind of fake to me cuz thats like you sing up for them to give you cds for free and you just keep on getting them and getting them... How many have you gotten total? and how much (total) have you have to pay?? what is CDHQ by the way? Can I get a site? |

| | | Ive never hoined one but to me it didnt seem like they had everything i would want and I know that I would never turn those order forms in on time to say i didnt want anything new. Also the music after you joined is more expensive becouse of shipping. Ive never tried so I can tell you not to if you like the selection go for it.
Also i really dont buy CDs anymore, I usually just download them off the net and now CDs are going to be copy protected I definatly would not buy a CD that I cant rip. |

| | | I don't think there is anything wrong with copying a song from a CD off the internet, but the whole CD?? Well, I won't get into the whole music piracy debate.

I used to belong to BMG. At first, it seems like a good deal, and for the most part, it is. But those first 7 selections you get "free" - well, you have to pay shipping and handling on them. And then you buy your first one, and have to pay S&H on that, too. Then you get your others free - but of course, you still pay the S&H for them. What I found to be the most irritating aspect of the club is that they keep sending you notices every month - sometimes twice a month - that you HAVE to return to them, letting them know if you want the pre-picked selection they have designated for that month, and if you don't send it back, they will ship it to you automatically. Even if you DO want to order something different, you still have to make sure you check the box on the card that says you don't want the monthly selection. So you have to diligently watch your mail, or keep checking in online, to see when your next automatic shipment is scheduled. I found that to be the most inconvenient thing. I would rather they just let YOU decide when you want to order something, without setting it up in such a way that you might forget to send back a card.
Overall, I think for the amount of music you can get, compared to what you actually have to pay out, it is worth it. Just be prepared for a little inconvenience for a while.

| | | Dont join. U pay too much for the one cd, and they keep on sending u cds and u will eventually pay for themif u dont send them back or the card on time. It sucks...I quit and they still hound me to join back. DONT JOIN!

I have boughten many from them, sometimes you get good deals and sometimes you don't! They send you deals like buy one cd at regular club price get 2 for half off! I bought 1 cd last month at regular club price! Then I got a few for half off! It came to 29.34 for like 5 cd's that I got, that included s/h! IMO it is a good deal! Also, when I buy their selection of the month they also send me a coupon fro a free cd of my choice!

| | | My ex-bf had BMG, and I think it came to a total of like $32 bucks when he was all finished (and he got like 14 cds). I had a friend who had Columbia House and said that totally wasn't worth it, but I don't know for sure what happened there. |

| | | I do this all the time. It's a great way to get CD's but the only problem i really had was they take forever to get in new CD's in the catelogs (This was pre-Internet for me) but i think you should do it and when you cancll they always give you great deals to keep you. If you sign up friend you get free CD's too.

| | | My dad told me (since hes done it before) if you cancel at the right time, they keep coming back with better deal, and you take them and then cancel again. But if you don't cancel after a certain time (quessing after the first amount of free cds) they send you an offer for a cd and whether you like it or not, if you don't do something about that offer (cancel or whatever) they send it to you and you have to pay, then your stuck with it. I dunno its all confusing.. any suggestions for the best one? |

| | | These sort of deals basically force you to buy more cds form them. Thats not a problem if you buy a lot of cds anyway but if you don't or want the money for something else then........ | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
