| | | I have a friend who goes to the University of Wyoming. From what I gather that town will not get over themselves. What happened was bad, but come on, much worse has happened too. They need to get over themselves and move on... let it go already! |

| | | Well, I'm not mad - but I think it is pretty pathetic to think that somebody having the life beaten out of them - LITERALLY - makes for a funny situation.

| | | Again... we've got more pressing issues to take care of. Matthew Shepherd is old news. Let it go and move on. |

| | | Again, saying it was funny is sick. This was a living person, with all the same feelings as anyone else, and a story behind them. He was beaten to death. This person had a family who loved him, and friends he was forced to leave behind. He was beaten to death because of some losers who thought his sexuality was good enough reason to do that. Tell me what's funny about that. I don't care if it's old news or not, it's not funny at all. I'm not mad, but I do have some new found pity.
Also, this just doesn't go to one poster. There's been more than one inconsiderate reply on this thread. |

| | | Well, if we mourn every person to die ever, we'd be a sick society. The point is to learn from it and move on. So far, Uwyo and Laramie (like I said--I have some friends there) know this is their claim to fame, and won't simply aceept the tragedy and deal with it. |

| | | It's just not that simple. Yes, he died, everyone dies. He was murdered, sure, thousands of people are murdered every year in the US alone. What makes it so big is that it was because of his sexuality. In other words, a hate crime. Sure, those used to happen all the time, but it's different now. We're more educated and more sophisticated when it comes to this stuff now. Also, added on is that there's a certain church that owns a certain web page (IM me BLSnSlayer to get the page, not apropriate for the forum) that seems to take joy in the fact that he was murdered, they even have a counter that says "Matthew Shepherd has been burning in hell for X days" or something along those lines. If these people can't let it go, then why should everyone else? |
