| | | People obsessed with lawns In the yuppie towns thread talking about lawns made me wonder about people who are obsessed with them. I am not talking about wanting to keep a pretty lawn which is okay I am talking about someone who will come up with rules for their lawn and whose goal is to make the lawn on a golf course look like a parking lot. I am wondering if anyone in here is obsessed or knows or has heard about someone obsessed with their lawn. Personally me I do not care about my lawn. However I read in the newspaper about some guy who had strict rules for his lawn. All he wanted was to have the perfect lawn. He did not allow running, rough-housing, horseshoe playing, or any thing that may harn the lawn if a leaf fell on it he would pick it up as soon as possible. To me why have a lawn if you can not enjoy it?

| | | My mom always loves working in the garden and lawn, front and backyard, there are lots of shrubs and flowers at my house, the lawn itself is no big deal, when my little cousins come they play tag and stuff on it, but she'll get mad if you just step on the flowers, she's not a freak about it though. I play b-ball in front of my house and the ball lands in the flowers sometimes its no big deal though.
btw if you have a beautiful front yard its nice to get compliments ALL the time, and come home to an inviting house. personally i dont want weeds, tall grass, and barren trees in my yard. |

| | | My parents aren't exactly obsessed with the way their lawn looks, but they do try to keep it looking really nice. My parents don't think that our house, which is one of the largest and nicest in the city, should have a bad lawn.

| | | My parent's aren't obsessed with the looks of their lawn, but we always seem to have greener grass than the rest of the subdivision in the middle of summer.

| | | My dad is obsessed. You should see how many chemicals and stuff he makes the landscapers put on it. (not a great idea, IMHO). Right now, in march, our lawn is STILL green...a lil frightning lol. When we were younger, we weren't allowed to play in the front yard, only in the backyard (we might ruin the grass, lol).
My neighbor across the street isn't much better. He mows his lawn by hand (not common around here), and he does it constantly, over and over again. He has a whole system, a whole order of direction he goes in and what not. It's strange, he's very obsessed with making the lines on his lawn from the lawnmower perfect.

| | | I have a neighbor, who even during the winter spreads salt on his lawn, and then mows his lawn even though the grass is like 2 inches high. It's hilarious seein him do it. |

| | | I have a neighbor who is about as far away from obsessed as you can be. She never cuts her grass. It'll literally grow 2-3 ft. in the summer. And if someone in my family goes to try to cut it she'll threaten to call the cops lol. We've called the board of health and everything and she still won't cut her grass. If you don't believe me ask coasterfanman21 about it too, he's seen it before lol.

| | | There was someone in my neighborhood was was obsessed with his lawn, but he moved out a few years ago. This guy would mow his lawn every single day to keep it the right length, and he would fertilize and water the thing every other day or something. It was insane. All his work paid off, though. He had three apple trees in his front yard that always had so many apples, the trees would be ready to fall over and his lawn was really pretty and green.
Another person who is obsessed with his lawn is Hank Hill. See how that guy cares for it? Insane.

| | | TXCoasterGuy1, you meant, SHE means ;)
And by hand I meant by himself, not by hiring landscapers to do it for him. I guess that was poorly phrased.

| | | I've known a few people who were obsessed with their lawns. Quite frankly, I don't see the point. I keep my grass cut, it gets fertilized twice a year, and we water it to keep it green during the summer. But to me, lawns are for living on. Not for manicuring.
I spend more time working in my flowerbeds than I do on the lawn itself.
