MiniDisc Question

I have an MD which is about 2 years old and i have recorded about 50Md's with it. Now i'm looking to get a new one and i was wondering if i can compress all the songs i have already recorded or is that not possible.

You want to compress them? I never bother with compressing them, its not worth the hassle. I don't see how you can do it without re-recording everything again - my minidisc is new and it won't do that. At the very least you would need a hi-fi type minidisc recording equipment. I'm sure it has to be done when recording stuff........i'm not an expert on it or anything thing i just don't see a way of doing it.

You might just have to re-record it or buy a load more discs :)

you should buy a mp3 cd-player. i have the rio volt and its amazing. you can get them for under $100. i dont really know too much about mini discs but you can fit about 300 mp3's on one cd.

I think that you would have to re-record everything. But if you decide to do that, get a net-md player so you could get them all done in about 10 min.

i've got one of these, as well (but mine's a mojo or something). they're the best, especially b/c i've got a laptop, which means space issues when it comes to the hard drive. but i'm able to put all my songs on about five or six discs, and it's excellent.

if you can afford it get a hard disc player they cost about £300 though. There isn't a "net-md" player really - the player just comes with a device to convert a signal from the sound card to an optical signal. I think soon you can buy these as an extra.

I have one of thoses devices that you are talking about. It attaches to my USB port and a little unit coverts it to an optical singal. Follow the following link to read about what net-md is. But in a sense I guess that you were right, even though you need a special player (second link) to record at 32x speed.

simple! Buy the PC compressor which hooks up to your PC. Now I reccomend a reasonably fast and new PC. A new preferabbly because with high speed internet, you can immediatly rip your MP3's onto a Min Disc. I have just a player, but my dad has a recorder so I use that. I may buy a new one, but I doubt it, IMO, they are better than MP3 players.......
