STEEL
1. The Incredible Hulk
2. (TIE) Millennium Force, Goliath
4. Nitro
5. Magnum XL-200

WOOD
1. The Beast
2. Son of Beast
3. Thunderbolt

Sweet! I hope they don't show old footage from the other shows of Beast. I also hope they have a lot of on-ride footage of the coasters. Finally they're gonna have a show with Son of Beast on it. I was a little disappointed when they pretty much failed to mention SOB on the shows last year or the year before, even though it's such a revolution in the woodie industry that it should have been on one of them. Well, I'm glad Beast made #1. I can't wait for these shows!!!

Sorry, but I have to complain. Hulk does NOT deserve the #1 spot. Hulk has got to be the most overrated steel coaster out there. Its good, but not enough for the number 1 spot, or even the top 5. (especially when Kraken, a better ride, is just a 10 minute drive away).

Finally someone said Hulk is overrated! I haven't ridden Kraken but I have ridden the Hulk and I thought it was great but not #1 great. It is in my top 5 behind Ghostrider, X, Goliath, riddler's Revenge, and Cali' Screamin'. Wait till next year when X takes #1. What shocks me is that there is no S:ROS. From the looks of it, it has to be the best steel coaster out there. I think it should go like this:

Steel:
1.S:ROS
2. MF, X (tie)
3. Nitro
4. Goliath
5. Silver Star

Wood:
1. Ghostrider
2. Shivering Timbers
3. The Legend
4. Boulder Dash
5. The Raven

I agree, Hulk (although I havent been on it) doesnt seem to cool IMO, the launch looks kool, but the rest is just like any other B&M, personaly, Medusa, Raptor, Kraken, Alpie, Montu, Riddler, are all better than Hulk, but thats just my opinion.

*whines about the results*. Son of Beast number 2??? What the heck?!?!?!? They need to use legitamate polls/surveys like they did with NAPHA and AT the last 2 times, not just pick what they like best like Travel Channel does. How is Son of Beast number 2, when I've ridden only like 8 wood coasters and SOB is only my #3????? Phoenix can KICK SOB ANY DAY!!!!! Oh well. But Goliath? Tied with MF? Where's SROS@SFNE??? Why is Magnum number 5??? Raptor, Mantis, even VORTEX AT PKI are better than Magnum! AHHHH! Oh well, at least the travel channel didn't make this list up. If they did, it would look something like this:

Steel:
1 STE
2 MF
3 Riddlers Revenge
4 Volcano The Blast Coaster
5 Viper @ SFMM

Wood:
1 Son of Beast
2 Mean Streak
3 Roar @ SFMW
4 Jack Rabbit @ KW
5 Collossos

So, at least it's not Travel Channel style list. And at least I don't have to suffer through another round of STE worship. Hey, I still get some footage of Nitro! :)

I think Ravem is still #1 in the woodies section, Legend #5, with Phoenix, Shivering Timbers, and something else in between. I don't think Rampage is in simply because Visionland closed.

Raging Rider, why are you so sure of yourself? Do you honestly believe I'm that dumb to post a fake list that Discovery Channel will just *NOT HAPPEN* to play according to what I listed FROM THEIR OWN WEBSITE. GEEZ louise

The results are compiled by Discovery itself and have no connection to the Golden Ticket Awards. What kraxle posted are the real results from Discovery... a poll they conducted on their own. I know cuz I received those results on paper (not just from the web) from Discovery.

An added note: I learned about the poll (and placed my votes) from watching the Discovery Channel. So if you don't like the results, take into consideration that only people who visit TDC website, or happened to catch the poll by watching TDC voted.

I am confused they have the top 5 steel and top woodies, but then when you press to voter, Nitro is #1, Raven #2 Incredible Hulk #3 Millennium Force #4.....so does the internet poll not count or somthing!?

No, that internet poll means NOTHING. All they do is have the results at the bottom of the screen during the show. They arent acurate at all. And BTW, the only reason Nitro is #1 is because all the SFGADV fanboys voted a few thousand times until it became #1. And BTW, I know this for a fact.

http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/coasters/video/topten.html
Sorry, I just remember it being from the Golden Ticket Awards. I don't think you're stupid, I just thought you may have made a mistake (it's happened to me, like right now:D). It was chosen by the users of Discovery.com, so obviously, it was much different than years past. I think they should go back to the Golden Ticket Awards, it seemed more accurate to me. I would expect MF, Nitro, and maybe Magnum to be up there, but not Hulk or Goliath. Also, ST should be near the top of the wooden, because it seems that now, great rides aren't up their due to the fact that they have many less riders.

LoL. I know. They all called each other up (SFNJ Fanboy Team Hotline) and told each other one by one (all 1000 of them) to vote numerous times by clicking "Submit Answer" dozens of times each. Those losers.

That's sooo wrong! Top Five should include MF, X, S:ROS, SD2K, Nitro for Steel IMO (I;ve only been on two of them) and for wood: Shivering Timbers, Beast, Boulder Dash, Ghostrider, maybe SOB.

Um, RaptorDude, my list was NOT what I think it should be. If you took the time to read my post, you'd see that that was a list of what it would have been, had it been made by the Travel Channel. Here's what I think it should be:

Steel:
1 MF
2 X
3 SROS @SFNE
4 Nitro
5 Hulk

Wood:
1 Shivering Timbers
2 Ghostrider
3 Legend
4 Beast
5 Texas Giant

god maybee nitro is voted for that many times cause it is truely that good. see coasters do not have to be at cedarpoint to be good you know. And the sixflags great adventure fanboys are not saying that their park is better. they are doing the same thing that u cpers continue to do about MF. Personally, i would like to talk about other coasters for a change. i hear nothing about anything besides MF, nitro, sros's and well thats really it. not that i mind hearing about the best steel coasters on this planet but it does get old. I think that they should focuss on some serious steel dragon for it's airime goodness for this show. they should also have parks like six flags st louis and parks that most peo0ple do not get to see cause i really am interested to see the boss and freeze. i would like to see some stuff on the premier launchers around the country too cause all of the launcher stuff is ste this ste that and hypersonic and volcano and the imps. i wanna see my lapbared premiers! ok that rant made no sense. bye bye

...The results could VERY screwed up... because you could vote 100's of times using different cheats. Someone told me they were doing it... I don't know if it really worked, because I never actually tried it.

Finally I hear from people other than close friends that Hulk isn't all it's cranked up to be. Every friend I know that's been to IOA has come back and told me that Hulk wasn't even the best coaster in the park (Dueling Dragons). While I can see how it'd be a great coaster, how come Hulk gets all of the credit while Dueling Dragons doesn't even gain barely any notice on these shows? Personally I have never been to IOA, so I can't say for sure, but I'm still rather curious on this.

Oh well, here's my top 5 wood and top 5 steel:

steel:
1. Raging Bull
2. Millennium Force
3. Apollo's Chariot
4. Magnum XL-200
5. Mamba

wood:
1. Legend
2. Knoebel's Twister
3. Coney Island Cyclone
4. Beast
5. Phoenix (VERY close with Raven)

Honorable mentions: Raven, Mean Streak, Georgia Scorcher, Mantis, Raptor, Son of Beast, Medusa (SFGAdv), Steel Eel, S:ROS (SFDL), Desperado, Texas Giant, Georgia Cyclone, Viper (SFGAm), Ninja (SFMM), Top Gun (Carowinds and PKI), and the original Batman: The Ride at SFGAM.

Im not that suprized about the poll. With somethings I have to agree with the following...

Magnum XL-200 is still up there
Beast finally is up in the top five
And finally X is not in the top five

i dont agree with

Millennium Force not being ranked #1
Shivering Timbers not being ranked #1 and not in the top 5
and finally... Wheres Disaster Transport? Screwed again.

I completely personally agree with the woodies rankings. They could not have picked a finer 5 wood coasters than those if you ask me. As for the steel, I really disagree. Hulk is really fun and all, but cannot hang with MF IMHO. I was just in Orlando today (my flight left 6 hours ago), and the billboards for IOA claim that Hulk is the best steel because "As voted by Discovery Channel viewers". Did they have a poll on their website or something like that they used?
