Mansons 5th album?

Yah I know, I should stop listening to his satanic garbage and go to church more:rolleyes: , trust me, Ive heard it all before..

Manson just announced that he let Twiggy Ramirez go from the band. Twiggy has been there since day 1! He said that Twiggy didnt like the direction the band was going in and his heart was not behind the music, so Manson let him go....

BUT THEN he said....

"For the new album, disregard every single notion you have had of Marilyn Manson as of this date."

Oooook...Twiggy left cuz he didnt like the direction he was going?

Manson has either gone reeally soft and mellow...

OR

hes releasing his darkest album yet and Twiggy couldnt handle it!!

Im hoping for the latter part! anywho....anyone have any information?

Not a huge Manson fan here, respect him though for what he can do, but going on, I have a feeling that the latter could be possible. Thinking about Twiggy, he did do that whole cross dresser thing and all, but he was always more of a straight forward metal guy who wasn't in it for all the bull, and maybe felt that Manson is putting too much of that into his next album. Or maybe that was just the excuse for him leaving the band. I really don't know for sure, but those are some guesses.

IMO, Manson has progressively been getting softer- even his appearance is "softer" (he wears colors now!). Think about the first few albums- they were very dark, very very dark. Then "coma" came out and it was like the pop version of goth, a somewhat much softer side to Manson. I don't think he could return to the "Smells Like Children" realm, just for the fact that the Manson fans that are left are now used to his brighter side. This reminds me of NIN. The music was always very dark, but after "the downward spiral" the sound somehow changed. It was becoming more and more distored. Even Trent's appearance changed, and like Manson, it seemed like with the changes went the old person. Just my opinion though.

hmmmmm....I just heard he was getting the bassist from KMFDM. His image has not gotten softer, he went for the dead antichrist look, then the glam look, then the straight up goth look which he still has... it has just evolved. The only thing that has evolved is societys' tolerance for him I think.

im a manson fanm and a slipknot fan, and a...well you get the picture. i dunno about the band though. i havent heard anything about them lately. i do agree though, that manson has evolved for the image to society. i don't really care if they lose anybody, though it would suck, as long as they make good albums

<~~~~~~Huge manson fan here, here's what I've heard, this is from the Nov 2001 issue of Revolver magazine and the Jan.2002 of some other mag

Lyric-wise, it is going to be "filthier", and less satanic. It's going to be his most profane album yet technically and not as deep, which is probably why twiggy is leaving him.

Music-wise, probably a bit softer and more drum-bass influenced, less guitar, a bit monotone. From what he says, it is probably the first option as to which way he's going. He even said right after Holy Wood that "Maybe I'm getting old, but it's getting harder and harder for me to want to do heavy music. That's what everyone else is doing, and I prefer to go against the grain." (that's probably not his exact words.)

BTW, that's not his 5th album, he's had way more than that.

It is his 5th studio album. "The Last Tour On Earth" and "Smells Like Children" were remixes and live performances of his other albums.

Mansons music has never been "Heavy" in my book, and as long as he keeps his lyrics dirty, I won't lose faith.

taintedhand, you hit the nail on the head right there. No matter what music it is, as long as you like it when you hear it, that's all that should matter. I have a friend who's really worried about the upcoming Anthrax album, on rather it'll have guitar solos mainly, and I'm still wondering why, as long as it appeals to your ears, nothing else should matter.

Um...is he for the solos or against them? I personalyy don't like them...they are kinda boring, and it doesnt take much skill to shred, so they are showing off something kinda worthless to the song...thats just me though.

yeah, if he jsut likes solos or doesnt like solos really decides the issue. i dont care for them either but at the same time, if there in the song o well. ill suck it up and go on. if the whole album is of something i dont like, then it goes on the crapper list. o well.

He's for solos. I'm for solos too, but in a different way. I feel that if a solo is well done and compliments a song well, then why not include it, a great example of this is most of the stuff done by Testament (Alone in the Dark, Burnt Offerings, and Apocalyptic City are great examples from them). In his case though, he'll actually look down on a guitarist if they never play solos thinking that they can't do it. Some guitarists that don't normally play solos he likes, like Mick from Slipknot and Greg from Mudvayne for instance, but solos are what he uses to place judgement on a guitarist (not necessarily shredding solos, but he likes tasteful solos that fit with the song). Personally though, I don't really see why one member of the band should be featured above the rest of the band, that's why I really like bass solos (Primus anyone?) or drum solos (Primus anyone?).

Primus!! Woohoo!!!

Anywho, Mick from Slipknot said he doesnt like solos czuse they are a little old fashion, and they really wouldn't fit with what slipknot is trying to do musically....but I think Mick and Greg are amazing guitarists without solos... and Testament kics arse!
