| | | Time For Kids Does Coasters Check it out! I was reading the Sunday comics in the paper and I saw on the back they had a little thing for kids about coasters. It's got a small interview with Allan Schilke about X and the coaster in Las Vegas. Check it out. That site has a bunch of stuff about coasters, just do a search. I especially like how they mention safety.

| | | Yeah, I was kind of disappointed by that story to tell you the truth. It was alright, but it was kind of dumbed down for children. I would've liked them to explain a lot more about the coasters and less about the designer. Good pics though, although I do have one complaint: They have a picture of V2 but they don't say where it is or what it's called. They just call it an impulse coaster

| | | Yeah I have six copies of that issue! I was so surprised when I saw it at school. I picked five copies out of the Recycling Bin!:sun:
BTW there is nothing about a coaster in Las Vegas. Only a thing mencheoning about it.

| | | I love how they describe WT: The world's tallest, fastest "double-twisting impulse coaster" has two 200-foot-tall poles. Double twisting impulse sounds normal but two 200 foot tall poles?

| | | Well, that's how Cedar Point markets Wicked Twister, "the tallest and fastest double-twisting impulse coaster", despite the fact that it's the ONLY double-twisting impulse coaster
And yeah, what's up with 'two 200' poles'? haha |

| | | The article was nice... they had a pic of S:UF :) but...
Why is Alan Schilke the only guy that is ever interviewed when someone wants to talk to a coaster designer? I mean... there's other people... like B&M :)... I guess that Alan is the most accessible one but... they should get someone else's opinions too...

| | | I remember getting that in our 5th grade classroom, but they never had interesting stories like that. That was a pretty good article, although it would have been better if it wasn't scaled down.

| | | I posted about this in the S:UF thread in AMerican Coasters awhile back. It's a wonderful shot of S:UF along with WT and X. Plus they really don't dumb down the lingo as much as other article do. |

| | | I liked getting those in 5 grade, i really wish that they had some roller coaster articles in it then. Anyways i think that the article here was watered down too much for kids. Even in 5th grade kids still know a lot about coasters. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
