Computer problems

Maybe it's me. Maybe it's my computer. Maybe it's because my computer is Gateway. Maybe it's some program that I downloaded. Either way, my computer is causing me problems and it's beginning to drive me insane. You may recall me having a situation back in October/November where IE would have a Not Responding error and I would have to restart my computer to get it working again. I would have to do that many times a day and it really sucked! Now, a different error is occuring and I don't know what to do about it. This time I get this error when I run more than one IE window. I like running more than one so I can multi-task and stuff. This new error I get is some C++ error and it pops up after a while of surfing the Net. The message comes up, and I click OK. After clicking that, it closes my Internet windows and I'm sitting here staring at my desktop. I can't see any icons or anything and I can't do anything. I'm forced to restart using Ctrl + Alt + Del. I have to do this a couple times a day. What should I do? ScanDisk? Defrag? Wipe my whole system and reinstall Windows (I did this last time and it fixed my problem, but it sorta sucked. Good thing I backed up most of what I needed :) )?

I attached the image of what I get now.

i had this error once and rewrote the code for IE. the only other thing i suggest to CLEANLY redo the system is to

1.) Get rid of IE then re-install it
2.) Contact Microsoft
3.) Format the Hard Drive

one of those should do ya. if you have IE 6.0 I might be able to send a patch for the IE that i re wrote. it is rewritten to the exact same as what Microsoft wrote almost. no major differences. no cosmetic anyway.

Thanks for the help, Natelox. That's just outright spam, but whatever. I'm not going to buy a Mac since the last ones I've used were crap. Yeah, yeah, they're fast, user-friendly, etc. I've heard it all. I used to be a big fan of Macs, too, but then I moved to PC. I just like PC's more because there's more software for them. You don't have to buy some converting thing to run programs (Orange PC or whatever for Mac is what I'm talking about). Besides, the Macs that I've used couldn't handle what they had and they crashed all the time. I used a freakin' G4 with all sorts of fast processing and eight billion gigs of harddrive and the piece of crap crashed on me when I was editing a video with Final Cut Pro. Macs just don't seem to be able to handle anything they get. Anyway, I still need help, peeps. Any help (besides spam like Natelox's) would be appreciated.

macs! HAHA! Anway, I asked Microsoft about the error and showed them that picture you posted. they said that an uninstall and re-install of the newest IE should take care of it. that is all they said. i think this should work as well but there is no telling.

Yes you are prolly running IE 5 and 6 is out(it also up-dates your outlook express to 6)

ALso goto start programs and look for anything that you didn't download and take em' off!

You could try downloading the latest runtime files from Microsoft.
Not a guaranteed fix but worth a try...

I'm with you Natelox.

However, I've got experience with PC's and if you are married to IE I would try reinstalling it, if not, use Netscape. It seems to have a lot fewer problems.

Never a fan of IE. Use Netscape 6 unless you're running a dinosaur (less than PII).

Apart from mysterious errors, one thing that IE really upsets me is the problem of reading Chinese characters.

Microsoft had created those so-called Global IME for different languages. You have to install the IME of Chinese to read Chinese. But half of the time, it doesn't work, all you get is gibberish.

Netscape however, relies on 3rd party software to read Chinese (the most popular one is NJSTAR). It works without the gibberish and crashes.

But the bad thing is, NJSTAR can't work on IE5 (because Microsoft hates people using thrid party softwares).

What would the world be if every consumer product manufacterer does thing like Microsoft?

You car may lost control and crash 2 or 3 times a day. If you don't have a crash in a week, consider yourself winning the lottery.

You can't use the same roll of bathroom tissue with your spouse unless you buy another license.

Sometimes you have to live with the problem of fridge door refuses to open.

The cereal that you ate this morning is corrupted, you may have to 'reformat' your stomach, or get a new one.
