By the way, its almost 2:00 in the morning here in Wisconsin, shows how bored I am will stay up all night on the computer. I have no life!

When I'm bored during the summer, I'm either out at the movies with friends, hanging out with friends, driving around with friends, at amusement park with friends (or just by myself cause I like it that way too :D), and crashing at my friend's. And the last resort is CoasterForum. :) But I don't get out until next Thurs....

Right now here on the island its gross and raining and chilly...but it's usually not like this in the summer. Some of my favorite things to do:

*movies: if it's raining or if theres something I really want to see
*beach: the closest one to me is 7 minutes away on the North Shore...even just sitting on the beach at night/walking on the beach with your friends is more fun than sitting in someones living room doing nothing.
*waterpark/amusement park: The only waterpark is Splish Splash, which is decent, but Adventureland really isn't all that impressive.
*mini golf: I know, but I love it! If you get really competitive its really fun. Make some creative variations on the game. (Most strokes on each hole must do blank...you can fill that in how you like)
*Scavenger hunt!: Make up a list, get a large group of friends, divide them into teams...videotape it...funny stuff.
*Badmintion, Pool Volleyball...: summer pool games. Warm weather stuff. Even if it's just screwing around like your 10 years old, its a change from the winter.
*Go explore a city: I don't know whats near you, but here if we have an empty day and we're really bored, we hop on a train, and NYC here we come. You don't need something to do, just go and fool around, get lost, have fun. I guess you can to this with a semi-interesting nearby town as well.
*ROAD TRIP!: Get in a car, pack it with some friends and drive! Pick a destination, or don't. I'm not talking a week long cross country thing here, I'm talking about driving for the day and seeing where you end up. Be a tourist in your area, go someplace you always wanted to go but never went. I did this with my friend matt, we drove to the Hamptons. It was so funny, take a camera. We took pictures of a giant duck (literally, it was a building) a big apple, four boats piled on top of each other....weird stuff.

Come up with stuff! Stupid stuff, who cares? It's summer, go out with your friends and have fun! I can think of a million other dorky stuff I do in the summer, but I don't want to scare you TOO much. ;)

A job is definately a worthwhile prospect -- even just bagging groceries or something helps bring in the cash, will impress your parents, and will look good on a college application as it shows that you know how to work, be punctual, stuff like that.

Reading books is always a good pastime -- there are tons out there that people don't bother with, just waiting for the movies to come out that are poor imitations. And after all, the library is free.

Pick a craft project -- build something, buy a kit, something useful like that. I don't know what you're into, but that could be something to think about that gets away from the computer / television / telephone and stuff like that.

And finally, relax! Don't make any too strenuous goals for the summer, you definately need some downtime, just like anything.

getting a job is the best thing....your'll find it'll take up a lot of your free time even if you only work a few hours a work. And when your not working you'll like staying at home.

Bored..... IN SUMMER! *gasp*

I rarely get bored in summer, of course, who am I to talk, I live on a vacation spot for crying out loud! I can go swimming, skiing, or fishing any time I like. All right, I'll shut up now, I'm probably just makeing you jealous (he he, Wisconsin :) )

But when I DO get bored I'll probably exersise or something. You know, go run a couple miles, lift weights, stuff like that. I suggest to NOT get a job, even though it will make parents proud and look good for a college tuition, be a kid while you can for heavens sake! Being a kid wont last forever you know.....

Even when you do get bored, just remember, ITS A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN SCHOOL.... HUH?!.... AM I RIGHT?!

Ha! You want to hear summer boredom? Since there's nothing to do here (especially when it gets windy), I just either sit around on Coaster Forum or watching TV. Here's my story:

One day I was bored, so AZ RIDER, a girl friend (Anne) and I decided to go to Burger King and watch the tourists. Turns out that BK got these new fruit and yogurt cups that looks remarkably similar to the parfait at McDonald's. We wanted to try that and compare. They also had these brownie things that looked good, so we ordered those, but they were out. This happened on both Monday and Tuesday (yeah, we went two days in a row).

Wednesday:
A group of five or six Russian truck drivers were in Burger King. It took us a while to figure out what language they were speaking. It wasn't German. Not Swedish. Russian! Yes!

Thursday:
Two tour buses loaded with old people came. One guy had a really high waist, one woman had a very long and pointy chin, and their driver had a frozen smile on his lips and some weird eye thing going on.

Friday:
We walked this day. AZ RIDER came with us. We went to BK and asked again for the fruit and yogurt cups. They told us they were discontinued so that was a big walk for NOTHING. We grabbed some food at BK and told AZ RIDER to go into the restroom and strike up a conversation with a guy in there. He didn't do it. I did, though. I went in there and talked to this guy who ended up being a fly fisherman. It wasn't much of a conversation. Anne chatted with someone who used hair dye or something. (I'm trying to skip the boring stuff here.) What else? We went to McDonald's and sat around. AZ RIDER wouldn't get up to check it Pizza Edge was open. It was the easiest thing in the world and he didn't want to go outisde and look at the building. Holy crap that was annoying! After that, we finally went to Pizza Edge and listened to music. They had a crappy version of Dance Dance Revolution, but it didn't work!!! AZ RIDER wasted a buck and didn't even try to get it back by axing the people at the counter. We left after that and the entire way back, AZ RIDER kicked rocks onto the sidewalk! How annoying! He did that for two freakin' miles! Ahh! That's all I can remember.

Saturday:
This day was pretty much a good day to wrap up the week. Every person there seemed to fit in with the previous themes of the other days. Some cool-looking guy had on a shirt that said something like "Believe in Jesus or go to HELL." It was the most straight forward Christian shirt I've seen. Anne and I kicked it at Burger King for five hours this day. We walked over to McDonald's and I got a parfait since BK didn't have any! Stupid people! We went back to BK and sat down. The sun was really bugging us since it was setting and getting right in our eyes. We left once we hit the five hour mark. That's too long to stay there!

There. We went there for six days in a row. That's some sick record in my book, and it totally shows my boredom. You think you're bored?! Come to my town!

I just can't wait until the 24th. That's when we start our coaster trip! Yeah!!!!:sun:

Ah, summer. You never realize how boring doing nothing is until you've done it for an entire week. And I thought school was boring. Right now, I would rather be in school working than doing all the nothing I've been doing since school ended three weeks ago.

And there is nothing to do here except go online or watch TV. But that gets boring pretty quick. Like Chip, I cannot wait until the 24th. We're going coastering like we've never gone coastering before, and probably never will again. But that's still a week away! What am I supposed to do until then?

The only thing I find I can do after TV and the internet drive me insane is to read. I recently bought Stephen King's "The Stand", and I have been reading it for about a week. I only read when I have nothing else to do, and it's a pretty good way to pass an hour or more.

So I suggest to you: Read. Find a good, thick book, sit down and just read. Before you know it, several hours will have passed you by without you realizing it.

I've been pretty bored myself, I have absolutely nothing to do, everyday it's the same thing: Computer, exercise, listen to music, exercise some more, eat, read a book, phone, and that's all I really have done in my 2 1/2 weeks off so far!

I would be doing stuff but most of my really good friends are at summer gym until Wednsday, then I'll be doing stuff for a few days with them and then I go to Florida. So I just have to be stuck with being bored for about 4 more days and then I'll be fine.

Yes, well I have been doing that every single day of the summer. I can't think of one day during the summer in which I didn't go to a friend's house or a friend came over. The thing is, once a friend or a group of friends come over we get bored then. We really get bored fast and just sit around doing nothing. I can't wait until I can drive. Oh well, at least sleeping takes up half my day. Yesterday I went to bed at about 5:30 am, yes thats the same day I started this thead at two. Wait, that was this morning! Woo funny stuff. I usually sleep for about anywhere from 8-14 hours so that eats up sometime. Thats off the topic though. At least on Monday I am going to Six Flags Great America!

What sucks is that in about two weeks every one of my friends seem to be going somewhere. Everyone of them, all at the same time to  .

AllSmilesChica, it seems we do about the same thing. Except I skip the exersize part, which I shouldn't do :) . A

When it comes to summer, activities fall into two groups. Solitary activities, and group activities. Solitary activites include things like working out, chatting online with people I can't see everyday, like my relatives in Ohio and North Carolina, or my friends in Israel, playing 1 person games, like RCT, or reading a book, which is always a fun thing to do, providing you pick out a good one.
Usually, though, I have a group of friends come over, and we do something. There's far more things you can do with a group. If we feel like staying at my house, our options include swimming, watching T.V. or a movie, playing multi-person games, jumping on the trampoline, playing basketball or tennis in the courts, filming each other with the digital camcorder (always a very fun and often hilarious thing to do), just lounging around and talking, and a myriad of other entertaining things we can do. If we feel like going out, we can go see a movie, head downtown, and just walk around, or go to the beach (weather permitting). And about every month or so, we try to make a visit to Magic Mountain, which is about 100 miles away.

if you have friends over.....play some sports...basketball football go swimmming something any sport.....

sports will never EVER get boring if you have enough people, well for me.

uhh maybe go to an over night camp so you always have something to do 24/7......

if i have friends over or am at a friends house its pretty damn hard to get bored....if you're good friends

uhhhh yeah getting a job is good if you do nothing in your spare time then thats probably a good option, you get paid, and you can use all of that money for yourself since you dont have any bills or major expenses or anything!!!!

I know some members here are even to young to be bagging groceries, but I have an idea for a summer job that takes maybe 5 hours out of your day, earns you money, gets you excercise, and even some playtime. Be a golf caddie. I did it for three years. From about April to September I caddied raking in about $100 per week. I never knew much about golf, but what I didn't know I asked, and now I trade my bowling equipment for golf clubs in the summer. Its a very easy job, most club members are cool with you, they tip well. I made $3,000 total in three summers of caddying. I'd go to the course at 7am, be home by noon or 1 and still had the rest of the day to myself. I even caddied two rounds in one day and that helps out the wallet too. The club I caddied at had Caddie Golf day every monday where the caddies could do a round for free, but I was still shanking balls at the range and not even looking respectable doing so.

Also, if you want money but don't want to work too hard...mow lawns in your neighborhood, particularly for your elder neighbors. You never know how they may pay you whether it is money or something completely intangible that you will need later in life.

thats not that much money really, i earn about $100 in two days doing 5hours/day. Working 5 hours/day for 5 days is a lot of work for not much.

No...but what I'm trying to say is that if you want money quick caddying is the way to go....as far as I know taxes are not taken out. Not saying its the best job, but a stepping stone. There's plenty more out there. Take a look...earn some money to go to those parks.

i wish i had the kind of time that being bored requires. No not me im not that lucky. Im working almost full time at a brand new target getting the place ready to open in like a month and we are already way behind. Then i have practice for 3 var sports, soccer 2 hours 4 times a week. Cross Country 8 miles twice a week. Tennis i cant practice w/ my team because of work. So i usually work out from about 10-midnight at the park ever night. All this plus im vice president of ASB so weve got 2 hour meetings three times a week and a 4 day retreat later this summer. ANd i am a volunteer referree for local summer park soccer league.

Not that i have no fun. Making about almost 400 a paycheck has its benefits. I just put i brand new system in my VW. Ill hopefully be able to buy a digital camcorder and apple ibook by mid august(splitting cost 40/60 w/ parents). Because im planning a senior documentary. And i always have money to go out about every night. So get a job if youre bored!!

i've got only one word....XBOX. im going to be home all summer long execpt for a week where i will be in chicago(sfgam!!!). so, what do i do? i buy world series baseball for xbox and start a 162 game season with the indians. if i play 3 games every day (each game lasts around 40 minutes) i can finish my season by the end of summer. the second month will be less boring when my friends come home from camp and i can start doing stuff with them. other than that, tv and internet!

my solutions to summer boredom:

anything with friends is fun, but if you dont have any friends here are some things i do when im bored...

play video games
watch tv
draw a picture
take some pictures
listen to music
mow the lawn
amusment parks!
and of corse...coaster forum

those are some obvious ones, but here are some more creative things to do...

()set every clock in your house to the exact second
()put everything and everything in your house in alphabetical order
()climb the light post in front of your house
()ring your neighbors doorbells and run
()prank phone calls
()put a bunch of barbies in the middle of the street and watch what people do
()take the little ball out of you mouse and roll it around on the floor
()paint your shoes a diffrent color
()replace old lightbulbs
()clean out your parents cars for $
()scratch up an old CD then listen to it
()walk places
()build a dam in a creek
umm.... thats about it...BYE
