Pepsi Blue

I was at Pepsi's website last night and i found out they are releasing "Pepsi Blue" to compete with Vanilla Coke. At first i thought it was going to be a blue version of Mountain Dew, but it turns out its going to be Pepsi Blue.

What is it though? I went on their website and I don't see anything about Pepsi Blue.

Nevermind, I saw a news thing: http://money.cnn.com/2002/05/07/news/companies/pepsi/index.htm

Am I the only one who thinks fruity tastes just don't go with cola sodas? The vanilla worked out better than I would have thought, but it is similar to an ice cream float, so I can see that flavor. But fruits? Berries, cherries, lemon...

This Blue Pepsi is another one i am waiting to try. Id really like to see more done with Mountain Dew. Pepsi is good just by itself!

Well Lemon I can understand, because people squeeze lemons into their coke/pepsi all the time. I do sometimes, depends on the mood. But I see what you're saying with the berries....ehhh...I'm hesitant to try it.

Pepsi Blue was released around the same time Vanilla Coke was, I saw it in the paper. I guess both companies were aware of what the other was doing and wanted to make something new to compete.

Haha. So competition isn't just limited to amusement parks ;). Interesting. Who wants to bet on a Carrot Coke VS Pepsi Cabbage battle?

And I wonder what Pepsi Blue will be like. I mean, the can itself is already blue...but I suppose they'll make the actual soft drink liquid blue?!

EDIT : Oh yeah, do you guys recall those rumors about Christina Aguilera being the icon for Coca-Cola after Britney Spears started doing the Pepsi thing?...

I can just see it now -

Aguilera Coke VS Pepsi Spears. What do you prefer? :D

IMO, the cherry flavored colas are good, except for cherry 7-up. Then you also have grape and orange soda that taste pretty good. I'm not too keen on Vanilla Coke, it isn't mixed right. You taste the vanilla as an after taste. Would you believe at my local Dairy Mart I have seen blue berry flavored milk?? I think Pepsi Blue will fall as did Crystal Pepsi.

I love ALL Pepsi-Cola products, specifically Pepsi and Pepsi Twist. I can SO eagerly awaiting the arrival of this new drink. Hopefully it will take away my spot for #3fav. drink from Vanilla Coke. Because I can't stand having a Coke product as my #3fav. drink, but it is really good.

there arent too many sodas i dont like. i cant stand grape soda and 7-up other than the original flavor. i like vanilla coke a lot. as for pepsi twist and coke with lemon, i went to europe last summer and they had this soda called mezomix. it tasted very good, and when i got back i tried pepsi twist for my first time and it was just like it. as for pepsi blue, i like chery pepsi a lot so i'll just have to try it out. btw, is it out yet? i havent seen it.

Cherry and lemon are good flavors, IMO, but I think any other fruit would be pretty bad. I like cherry 7-up, unlike those who already posted, grape soda, on the other hand, sucks. Diet Rite is th only other good, fruit flavored, carbonated beverage, IMO. I'll try Blue Pepsi, but I never got to try Clear Pepsi, which I hope they bring back just to try it.

If you want to taste an AWFUL soft drink, come to the Coke Museum in Atlanta and try Beverly (from Italy). It tastes AWFUL (and is featured in Robb Alvey's 2001 Coaster Season Video!)

I'm looking forward to Pepsi Blue. I'm getting kind of sick of Vanilla Coke, but I like Pepsi better anyways, and also liked the Crystal Clear Pepsi.

Pepsi Blue sounds interesting. I will try it, but I don't think I will like it, although I was very surprised that I did happen to like Vanilla Coke so you never know. The thought of it just doesn't seem like it will taste all that great. Fruits and sodas just dont seem to mix, but I do like Cherry Coke.

You can do a lot of international soda tasting in Epcot -- there's this one attraction that looks like a pile of snow and you walk into the best air conditioning you can imagine... :*) At the end of a little hallway there's a gift shop (naturally) and you can taste all different kinds, including a Chinese soda I really liked that was watermelon. Of course, it's not watermelon-cola (with the cola flavor too) so that makes all the difference.

Why don't they just make Mountain Dew Code Blue? It would make more sense. Mountain Dew can be made fruity. We know this because of Code Red. Pepsi Blue may flop but I'm not sure.

i like "fruit" (remember they never actually see any fruit) drinks like dr pepper and cherry coke.

I don't see what the big deal is over colour - coke is clear, it's just they add coluring to it. they can make it almost any colour they want (is this unhealthy or what?).

Anyone here old enough to remember "Clear Pepsi"? Was just regular Pepsi-cola without the artificial colouring. I'm sure the cola wars will continue with weird flavors, thats part of the fun. Give me all sorts of options when I visit the store :) As for berry flavored colas, Wild Cherry Pepsi and Cherry Coca-Cola are ok with me.

If you want worst soda, try drinking Faygo Diet Orange. :p Yecccch!

I usually don't like flavored soda but there hasn't been much originality. Almost every drink has a cherry version, and I hate those. Finally there are some more variety. Vanilla Coke and Pepsi Twist are decent but I like the originals better. But at least I don't hate them like cherry sodas.

This Pepsi Blue is the first flavored soda I actually can't wait for. Seems good.

Speaking of Mountain Dew Code Red, has anyone had the Watermelon version (or is that Mellow Yellow? I get confused between the two). Anyways, its ok. However, I can't wait to try Pepsi Blue, though come to think of it, I couldn't wait to try Vanilla Coke and I hated it (Bitter aftertaste, EXTREMLY Nasty when warm or chilled because of the ice) but since I like all the berry drinks (Cherry Pepsi and Cherry Coke) I think I'll be ok with Pepsi Blue. Also, I remember Crystal Clear Pepsi, it was good, too bad it had to go. Does anyone here remember Surge?

PepsiBlue sounds really stupid and disgusting (at least its not bananna like they were considering), but im sure it is 100 times better then that alful Italian Coke product at Epcot.
Pepsi is also coming out with Mountain Dew Blue Shock (or somethhing like that)

Surge was good. Kind of a carbonated Hi-C Ecto Cooler. Now a soft drink that tasted liek YUCK was Kick. I have never been so disgusted with a soda than that one.

The Watermelon Mello Yellow was ok. I thought cherry blew away code red. BTW has anyone had the Faygo Blue Moon Mist? Pretty good stuff. I'd say it's what Pepsi Blue is going to be. I also liked the clear Pepsi.

I remember Surge. Wasnt it supposed to be Coke's answer to Mountain Dew? Anyway, I'll try Pepsi Blue, but Im not sure what its gonna be like. I hated Vanilla Coke. It was terrible. But I like Pepsi better anyway, so we shall see.

Wow, am I the only one here who has actually tasted Pepsi Blue? If any of you are interested in the import car scene (aka Fast and Furious), and have been to a Hot Import Nights car show this year, then you could have tasted it. I went to the HIN show in Chicago at the McCormick Place on 6/29 and they had a booth set up specifically for Pepsi Blue. They were handing out samples all over the place. We were told that it is coming out sometime in August. Yes, I drank about 4 of the little cups that they were handing out (about the size of a shot glass), and I must say, it is great. It doesn't really have a berry taste to it, but it is different. I definitely liked it... If you don't believe me, then check out www.hotimportnights.com . They advertise it right there on the home page.

I have been to the coke-a-cola museum in atlanta, and I remember a foreign soda called bitter aperitif or something like that. It was the WORST thing I ever tasted. I literally ran to the garbage, spit it out, and ran back to the american soda's and drank a few cups of some cherry coke. And BTW, I think cherry coke is very good. It is one my favorite flavors of soda.

Edit: I found out that bitter aperitif is the soda Beverly. I went on some coke-a-cola website and it says everyone who tries it does spit it out, and I can guarantee that is 100% true.

Im guesing the blue is BlueBerry or just some thing artificial. Vanilla coke is good, but Pepsi has that PEP that I like, I dont know why, but Coke seems for like old people. NO its NOT the commercials (even though it has Britney Spears in them :D) but I dunno, just I like pepsi a lot better!
