We celebrate it once a year. It's 5763 because that is when we think the world was created. Happy Rosh Hashana to all the Jewish people.

Yes, those pluses. Like getting several thousand dollars for turning 13. I know it's more spiritual than that, but I know some Jewish kids, and most of them take advantage of their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs (Sorry if I spelled this wrong). But many of them would rather be in school, because they end up in temple all day anyway. O well, Mozel Tov (Sp? hey, at least I tried)

You shouldn't consider pluses of a relgion money or days off of school.

Here we go again... Does the religion topic from ThrillRide! ring a bell? Lets take all the comments with a grain of salt. Because otherwise it could get ugly.

Well, anyhow, a happy 5763 to all the Jews out there. We had our traditional Rosh Hashana dinner today. Yum............ Some people put a fish head at their dinner table to symbolize Rosh Hashana, which literally means "Head of the year". Yuck.

I like how the year is 5763, feels like more human history has passed. Then again, they won't be able to celebrate the millenium for 237 years. :p The Chinese New Year is pretty far ahead in years too, this year is 4699, next year will be the turn of the century. :D

Um, it's "mazel tov" and that means congratulations. The correct greeting/ salutation for rosh hashanna is "l'shana tovah". (sweet year)

Rosh- head
shanna - year
ha- [prefix]- the
So Rosh Hashana actually means Head the Year... but translated to english the grammar is changed.

actually if you take it literal the word "mazel" is a type of constilation(sp, group of stars) and "tov" means good, so actually its saying good "luck" or however you want to say it. and brogium, i would consider getting 10,000 dollars a plus for doing nothing but turning 13. :D

Gefilte fish?
No, the whole head chopped off the fish, not pre-cooked fully edible things like gefilte fish (which I can't stand, by the way). My friends have had some pretty gross incidents, but it makes me nausous just thinking about it, so I won't bother telling them. Some people even use a sheep head.

Well, Happy New Year to all Jewish People. Remember the old joke: Why 2K? That was a good one 2-3 years ago in 5761 and 5760, or, 1999 and 2000.
