Markey succeeded!!!!

Yup, you heard me right folks. I was watching something on the news last night and New Jersey now officially has a G-force limit no every one of their roller coasters. Forgive me if I'm mis-informed, but isn't that where Markey is senator? Anyway, no biggy, no changes really. Unless they were planning on making a coaster that exceeds the 5.6 G-FORCE LIMIT for more than a second. Oooooo, lots of progress there Senator *******! Sorry, that just made me laugh.

Well actually it's been in place for a few weeks now, and Rep. Markey is from Massashuesetts (yes I don't know how to spell it).

I doubt this will become widespread legislation. Don't worry about it too much (unless you live in NJ).

And there's always a chance it could be repealed. Just not much of one.

Thanks for the correction, I knew it was one of them. Anyway, it's still pretty pointless, seeing as none of them exceed that and most parks don't even plan rides that intense. And I just heard it last night, so sorry about that

Ya, they purposely made the law so that none of the coasters in the state exceded the limit. So it only has effect on new coasters, and very few, if any, are that intense anyway.

Well, I guess there won't be any new 5.6g helixes in NJ. Awe too bad, I was looking forward to blacking out...

It sounds pretty bad, and it does suck that these people are actually listening to an idiot named Markey instead of the intelligent people at IAAPA, but 5.6 Gs for a second is a lot. Note: Goliath at SFMM didn't pull 5.6 Gs for a second. In the helix, it pulled like 4.5 for about 3 seconds. With NJ's law, coasters can do that. But pulling 5.6 Gs for a second is a bit much. Just remember they can pull that and maybe more for less than a second. The only bad thing about this is you can't have high-speed-black-out helices (might hurt) and it shows that Markey is beginning to actually get the attention and people are believing him. It's okay, though. Hopefully he'll lose in the elections.

I honestly think 5.6 G's for a sec. is strong and wont be done on a doaster or I ride for that matter... It sucks that they listen to Markey... they do it just ecause i don't knoiw why... but owell... we can do 5.5 G's for 5 seconds still, and thats good enough if not better, he really didn't make any changes that will affect anything serious..

Well i really liked being an inverted poster..... but now im movning on :D:D:D:D (1000th post)

Well, I say laws like that are unnecessary, and laws like what my state, the Commonwealth of Virginia, have enacted (If you've been to PKD recently you'll notice signs that say, under the ride signs, "Virginia Law Prohibits doing anything injure you or others while riding attractions" or something like that) are much better. However, it really doesn't matter that much, and Markey didn't suceed entirely. First he wanted it nationwide, second he wanted the limit to be 4Gs, however, I don't think he new NJ law will affect any coaster in that state.

I live in NJ, and I looked over what the new law says, and it's really just something to shut people up , and make them think the govermant is doing something about ride safety. No ride pulls 5.6 G's for more than a second...not even close. But, now the GP will THINK that the lawmakers did something to protect them. Yeah, it's a stupid law, but it really doesn't effect anything.

At least the one by NJ isn't completely what Markey wants.

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a single ride in the world that pulls 5.6 or more for over a second.

Actually, Texas Tornado pulls that for a sustained amount of time in those first 2 loops. :flip: Gotta love that...now if I could ride it again after a two year break...or how ever long it is.
