| The Barge Explosion in Staten Island
i dont know how many of you have heard about it, but a gas barge exploded in staten island this earlier today. my school is pretty small for a high school, we only have about 250 kids in the whole high school. out of those 250, about 25 of them live in staten island. well none of them were able to go home for the weekend, so they had to stay at friends houses. i didnt see it myself (altho i easily could have from certain spots in my town), but for those people who did, it must have been so scary with all the terrorist attack rumors going around. and i cant leave out the fire in rhode island. that didnt effect me as much as the barge so im not talking about it as much, but still 90 or so many people died in the fire and that should be mentioned too.

How bout the 120 people that were trampled to death at the chicago night club a few days ago? There was an explosion at a Kentucky plant also earlier this week. About 2 weeks ago there was an explosion at a plant in North Carolina. The space shuttle Columbia blew up on re-entry. There was a plane wreck in Iran killing about 300 soldiers a few days ago. There was a plane crash in Charlotte, NC that killed 21 people about 4 weeks ago. All I hear about on the news is war, death, and destruction. It's very rare you hear an uplifting story anymore. It seems like our world is plagued with these horrific catastrophes. What about all the good that takes place?

I've seen videos of both of these events happening, and they're both scary. I saw the Rhode Island event unfold live as I was watching TV last night, and it was terrible hearing people being interviewed as you hear people screaming and crying in the background. I heard one woman say, "Where's Steven? Where's Steven?!" That was unsettling to hear. One of the band members who was there died, too I think. The body count's at 96 now. Awful! I saw some security lapse video that showed the explosion on Staten Island. It's huge! That's so scary. Man, this is terrible. Musicfreak, only 21 people were trampled to death at the night club a week ago. Still tragic, nonetheless.

More people are born every day than people die, though. That's why our population keeps growing (duh). ;)

This is depressing, it does seem like a recent rash of disasters though. One after another, I hate to turn on the news anymore. :(

Yeah, I saw the video for the barge explosion. The fire was frickin huge. I think only one person died though. However it happened so that everyone else survived is a mericle.
