When you compete in a contest and they give you this avatar then you get a better placement and don't get that avatar and then that mod disappears off the face of the freakin' planet. It's been over a year and a half now and I still got this. I know I can change it but I really want my "new" one that I shoulda got a while back. I don't even know what poster I am now. Can someone tell me please.

As Bimmer said, this is already being discussed elsewhere. No need to discuss it again.
And if you don't like the new system, then just make sure that your avatar matches with your rank. But at this point I think it's safe to say that the majority of people like the new system. At least that's what I've seen on the polls about it.
