2010: Olympics @ Vancouver

YEAH!!! We won the Olympics. In 2010, Vancouver/Whistler will host the Olympics. It was a huge thing here. We won over some city in Korea which i can not type by a vote of 56 to 53. I'm so glad we got them and hope some of you'll be up here in 2010.

Interesting. I'm too lazy to use logic and figure this out because I'm an idiot but is that for winter or summer olympics?

Well, it's in Vancouver, and Vancouver is cold, so I'll let you figure the rest out.

Sounds like it will be fun. Anything will be better than Salt Lake City, eh?

I'm glad to have it here in North America, but I really don't care where they are unless its in my immediate area.

Hopefully it won't hinder NYC's bid for the 2012 Summer games too much

2006 Winter games are in Turin, Italy and the 2008 Summer games are in Beijing, China.

As for New York in 2012, I really think this will hurt their chances.

I'm glad it's a bit more local. Vancouver is a beautiful city and a perfect place for the games anyway. I probably won't go there or anything, but better another Olympics in the US than another Olympics in the East Asia.

Vancouver's in Canada (yes, they're a country-not the 51st state-yet).
However, I think NYC needs to play the "race" card and say "Look, in the past 2 decades Europe hosted the 1992 Summer and Winter games, and the 1994 Winter Games. In this decade, its back to back Athens Greece and Turin Italy. Thats never happened in North America. Furthermore, Vancouver and NYC are far more apart than Barcelona Spain and Albertville France." Thats what should be done as a last resort, however, first they need to market themselves as the best choice. They've got Yankee and Mets stadiums for Softball/Baseball, Giant stadium for Soccer, Flushing Meadow for Tennis (home of the US open, I might add) and they can do the cross-country and some other things across the Brooklyn Bridge, rowing in front of the Statue of Liberty, and use the New Jersey Nets arena for Basketball. Lets see, that leaves Gymnastics, Fencing, Equestrian, and a few other things, but nothing NYC can't handle.

Why can't the U.S. adopt the celsius scale? Much more accurate. Btw, 21C= about 71-72 degrees F

No Celcius isn't more accurate than Farenheit, and vice versa. They simply use different types of scales. Plus, I think 21 sounds a little low for temps that warm.

Oh, and coasterfreak, take the subway

21 isn't hot, but its warm. It was 33C here a month ago. And in the winter it never gets really cold. It never dips below zero (32F) in the city.
