Randall Simon beats the sausage, gets caught

ESPN

He taps a sausage mascot, she falls down, and cries to her mommy.

Stupid move by Simon but him getting arrested for playing around is absolutely retarded.

This is probably the dumbest thing ever. I don't get why he would do this.

He was playing around.

The Pirates do something just like this at their home PNC Park and one of the Pierogies almost always gets the crap beaten out of them, be it by a player or the Pirate Parrot.

The Brewers Vice President called this the worst act he'd seen inside or outside a stadium.

He barely tapped the top of the costume(not even close to hitting any part of the person inside) and she only fell because the damned thing was too top heavy.

It's pure bullcrap what the Brewers are doing.

I don't think its acceptable at all. Why the hell would you attack someone that you don't know, and isn't involved with your organization at all. The Brewers may be overreacting, but he never should have done it.

At first I was really wondering about opening this looking at just the name. Anyways, that's a really dumb thing to get arrested for.

The funny thing was watching some of the other sausages fall over it and the one try and break up what he thought was a fight.

ATTACK?!

You obviously didn't see it, he barely tapped the top of the suit.

And tapped is an overstatement.

And I have the title like this on purpose people...

I saw the video a few times actually.

He hit her in the in with a baseball bat while she was totally vulnerable. I would consider that attacking her.

He was playing around, messing with the opposing team's mascot - she trips and he is treated like a criminal. Wow, what has our world come to?

Haha, I like the title of this thread. Pretty sad that you can't just joke around and not worry about being sued or arested. I wish I could see the tape of this.

I'm sure they are still playing it over and over on Sportscenter, Atrace, so just watch for it.

I live right here in Milwaukee, so I've seen it ALOT!! (it takes 10 min. to walk from my house to Miller Park:) )

I can see this crime from both point of view.

DEFENDING THE GIRL:
Even though Simon just tapped the girl with the bat, those costumes are very, very top heavy. So a little tap could cause the girl to fall over. Also, just because he tapped her, he still hit her with a bat, which is a stupid thing to do.

DEFENDING SIMON:
I'm not being sexist here, but the fact is if a guy was in the sausage uniform this wouldn't be in the news at all. He got arrested because it was a girl he hit (but how was supposed to know who was in there.

So even though he hit just tapped her, he still hit a person with a bat. She didn't know it was coming, so she was knocked off balance.

It was a stupid crime, but it was still a crime. Besides, I don't think $432 won't matter much to a professional baseball player.

The Polish Sausage wasn't trying to "break up a fight". It was just helping the Hot Dog & Italian Sausage get up because those costumes are really heavy.

(I know they're heavy because my brother's girlfriend is friend with the woman who sewed the sausage costumes.
