Drumset Heads

For the drummers here, I dont feel like messing with the salesmen at the local music stores around here... What Tom-Tom drum head gives you a nice, fast, thud, non-ringing sound? I'm hoping that its one of the remo heads b/c I have always used them. I have been using the Remo Weatherking Pinstripes, and they sound ok. Im not really happy with them but I will live. :D Its time to change my heads again so, any tips?

I know I am going to get another Powerstroke 3 by Remo for my snare. I always use them. Gives me a nice marching band/ popcorn sound.;) And I am not changing my bass head. Doesnt need it.:D

um... heh, I was actually gonna suggest remo pinstripes. haha. well, actually, if you're looking for a really low, thud type sound, go for the remo ebony pinstripes (i think that's what they're called) or if you want a more agressive sound, get remo coated pinstripes... I don't really have much experience with many different kinds of heads though so I don't know what to tell you... Actually though if you get those RemO's o-ring things... they really muffle it nicely. my toms usually ring like mad and when I put those on they don't ring at all. The snare pack is like $9 and I think the tom pack is like $16 or something...

I don’t know too much about drum heads (I usually don’t have any cash so I just buy the cheapest when I need them) but those Remo Ring Things do a good job at muffling the sound.

BTW if you don’t like going to the local music store you might want to try zZounds.com I use them when ever I’m buying drum Accessories.

Hey you could try going to a music store a little further away. (I went to one around Baltimore called Bills Music which had a lot of good drum stuff and it wasn’t very expensive (I even bought my Closed Hi Hat stand there))

Cool. Yea. I was looking at the Ebony Series, the black heads. They look nice. I dont like messing looking around in local stores, b/c they keep you there for days b/c they exlain every single head and blah blah blah. So, I buy the heads when I know what I want.:D
