Window Media Player

Ok, I download a TTD video off of Virtualmidway and I go to play the video, and it has to connect with codec server, request codec server and all the other crap and then it says error with codec and the video starts, but has no graphics or filming! Its just sound! How do I fix the codec thing and what the heck is codec?

you may have to update your WMP software.

Codec is short for encoder/decoder. The stuff is coded into digital information, then decoded into sound and video that we can understand.

Updating it is a bad idea. I updated mine and now almost no videos work. All I hear is sound. They all worked on the older version.

Windows Media Player 9 Series

I had that same problem until I updated to Windows Media Player 9 Series, and now all the Virtualmidway videos work fine... Here is a link to Windows Media Player 9 Series:

Windows Media Player 9 Series

They have it for Win XP, or Win 98 SE, Me, and 2000. Just click the appropriate download for your comp.

Now that I switched to XP, whenever I try to play videos by double clicking the icon it doesn't work. I have to right click the icon and then choose open with->windows media players......then it players correctly. Anyone have this problem also? It is kinda annoying but not really.

kjm, do you have Windows Media Player set to recognize the files you are playing? Cause if you don't, then that's why It's not working. To get Windows Media Player to recognize the files, open Windows Media Player, go to "Tools" then "Options" then "Formats" and select the file types you want Windows Media Player to open. I don't have Win XP, so that might not be what it says on your's, but it's probably similar, and you sholud be able to figure it out.

I never really had that problem. A while back my player just played the video and no sound, that lasted for about 2 weeks but i guess it finally fixed itself.
