| | | California Keeps Digging a Grave for themselves..... Unfortunatley, California is suffereing major problems right now. The budget crisis is the major problem, but other states as well have major problems that also are important, but Califonias far exceeds other states problems. So lets start with the basics.
The Budget Crisis: The budget has gotten screwed up since 2001, and 2002 and 2003. This was due to the demand of power. Davis decided to buy loads of power for us, because the whiny spoiled brats we are, we all needed power and cried whenever we didn't have power. So my house had a rolling blackout one day, big deal. I went out side to the pool, it ain't no big deal. But Davis bought so much extra power that we didn't need, that the money dwindled away. It is not Davis' fault in my opinon, it was everyone *****ing about power. Sure, you need power, but you can sacrafice sometimes. Hospitals, police, fire obviously all need it, but other places can sacrafice.
More Power Problems: Even this year, power problems continue. Neucular Power is being looked into for california. It depends on what we need done. Power is necesary only at night, so rolling blackouts during the day wouldn't KILL anyone, but the growing demand keeps continuing, so, the new power plant should help. But environmentalists dissaprove.
The Davis Recall: This is by far the worse. NO ONE could do a better job with his kind of situation. Its a state problem, not his. We all cried when we needed power, so we answered. It's our freakin' problem, and now you want to vote him out? It just annoys me. No one else is going to do a better job, honestly. Simon? Yeah right, he can't even coun't to ten. This costs money also, digging ourselves MORE of a grave. To me it's plain stupid, and It wouldn't make a different because it is a state issue.
I allways thought California had some trouble with the budget, and power, but now this? I think that something has to happen, good or bad. We just keep rolling down the hill, and we are rolling along with it. We cry about the power, think someone else will save us, and think everything will be A-OK. Wake up people, this is reality.

Is this the way our political system works? Anyone with enough money can attempt to alter the results of an election? The Republicans are being whiners here. Davis defeated the Republicans in the last election and now they can't accept that the people wanted Davis over Simon. Granted, Davis isn't the best governor, but he could sure do a better job then any of the people they've got lined up. This election is further affecting the budget crisis. Can't they just wait until 2006 and try again instead of trying to screw California up even more? And even if Davis is removed, even if a Republican governor does take office, California's Assembly and such still remains controlled by the Democrats. Can you say partisan gridlock?
In short, Republicans, let the man do his job and quit sulking because you lost last year.
I think I've ranted enough.

| | | It's a shame about California, places like Orange County used to be the bastion of Goldwater conservatism in the 70's...

| | | Well, quite frankly, I think Davis needs to take some lessons from Virginia's governor Mark Warner. Yeah, our budget got screwed up, but he fixed it-without raising state taxes. California needs a businessman-and most Democrats (Warner definitely excluded) are very socialist-so I don't think that he's the best man for the job, and that someone, either Republican or Democrat with some sort of business sense needs to get in there and fix these things. And Warner had/has a Republican controlled leglislature to deal with-which is good, b/c Warner sorts out the finances, and the Republicans ensure the Commonwealth does the right thing in other areas.
Oh, and Raptordude, if I was told I was going to lose power b/c the state didn't have enough-I'd be pretty upset-and I wouldn't call that whining, either. It might not KILL anyone, but it does get annoying, very fast.

Such as, this kid was complaining that the free candy offered by the community was a little messed up. It doesn't matter to me, you just mash it up insantly when you take one bite. The things my area have........

| | | It's California, of course it's whiny. Read one of Pat Buchanan's articles about CA.
We too had a a Democrat Governor in MD who ran a 2 billion dollar budget deficit in his last year. Then for the first time in 36 years, we elected a Republican Governor in November, and things are returning to normal. And just as Anaconda said they did in VA, it was done here without raising taxes. But of course, those on the left were appalled that taxes weren't raised. Gov. Erlich even reinstated the death penalty. I'm sure he'll be relected in 2006.

| | | Well, things aren't much better in Illinois. Our last governor was involved in a huge scandal with giving out trucking licenses illegally, and the one we have now is cutting the amount of money our schools get and now just decided to spend a crapload of moner redoing the governor's mansion.
Why are politicians so crooked?
