Siamese Fighter Fish

So I'm having a fiesta right, to kick off the school year, and I am trying to book some cool entertainment. The other week I heard about Siamese Fighter Fish that can be bought at a local pet store and apparently are pretty cheap. So I'm thinking fish fights might be an interesting party activity. Does anyone know if these fish fights are actually cool, or do they take like an hour and are boring, because I've heard both. Also, does anyone have any suggestions of other things to do at a Fiesta? Thanks for the help.

Fighting, not killing. We would take them out before they killed each other, but I was just wondering if it is something exciting or not.

I'm not a huge pet crazy psycho person, but WHAT is the point of that? I had one of those fish, and personally, they are actually kind of cool to have around. It's almost as bad as **** fights, really. It's a stupid idea, personally, I would suggest you just buy the fish for your room! They are like I said, fun to have for some reason. And they don't need some huge tank, they need like a vase etc.

Ok, ok. The only reason I thought of it is because I saw signs for "Fish Fights" in Mexico. The fish that they used are illegal here for obvious reasons. And I found out a little more about these so called "Beta" fish. Apparently they don't even fight, they just lock mouths. So unless the people coming to the party have a huge fish fetish, I don't think I'll go through with it. Oh, and leeloo, no offense, but I don't think that a couple of goldfish making out is cruelty to animals... There are many more "acceptable" forms of animal entertainment that treat animals much worse. Dog races, Horse races, and Zoos (not the bigger ones, but the crappy ones where the animals are all depressed and stuff) are much more severe.

Umm number one that is not a great form of entertainment. Number two, I don't know if you could just drop them in a tank and all of the sudden they would fight. They have to get used to their habitat and surroundings and stake out territory, etc. Number 3, there is no number three, so this ends here.

I'm pretty sure if you get two males they will fight each other. A male and female won't do anything. I'd say it's boring.

I don't know if they'll fight...we just got a fish tank like two days ago and my brother went to an aquarium store today to buy some fish and bought some fighting fish. He bought an Oscar fish, Texas Childad, and a Convict Childad, and some Guppies for them to eat...I think that's what they all are, and they're all supposedly supposed to fight but they haven't done anything yet. So I have no idea...

I know these fish are really aggressive and should be kept solitary, but has anybody actually seen two of these fish go at it before? I've never seen two fish actually "fight" before. Seems interesting, yet cruel.
