| | | Official NBA 2003-04 thread Hail to the Cavs for losing game no. 1 of 82!! Way to go King James in a LOSING effort.
With that aside...this is the official place to discuss the happening and thoughts of your closely followed NBA teams. DO you know the real reason behind the Oneal/Bryant fued? If Bryant didn't screw that girl, he would have been able to rehab on schedule and the Lakers would be fine (internally).
So this is your chance to discuss the upcoming seasons failings or advances. The lottery busts or perhaps those headed to stardom. |

| | | He scored something like 25 points, had 9 assits, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The crowd at the arena was cheering him and it was and AWAY game. The performance was better than the first games of Kobe Bryant (0 points), Jermaine O'Neal (2), Kwame Brown (2), Eddy Curry (2), Tyson Chandler (1), Kevin Garnett (8), and Tracy McGrady (0) COMBINED!!!
So you have proven the pundits correct that no matter what he does people will find a reason to criticize him. The single greatest performance of an 18 year old in the history of the NBA but it wasn't good enough.

| | | Who said I have to cheer him? Who said, as a resident of the state of Ohio, that I have to be an Ohio State fan (as well)? Everyone has fallen under this assumption that you live close to a major team, you are supposed to cheer for that team.
I never liked the kid in highschool, why should I suddenly jump on the King James bandwagon and like him now?

| | | The NBA is really pushing Lebron. They need him to improve ratings. Who knows, maybe it was set up for him to score over 20 points.
Do ya'll think that Kobe made his statements against Shaq to draw attention away from the rape charges?

| | | I didn't say you had to be a fan or jump on the Lebron James bandwagon. But, you have to give the guy some credit for proving all of his detractors wrong and going and there and putting up some impressive numbers while he was under the microscope.

| | | Apparently people keep forgetting that LBJ wasn't the only one in the draft this year.
Since some mods have expressed a "concern" for some negative comments as of late, here's something positive. Despite "Lakergate", expect the Lakers to hit the postseason yet again. Joining them will be the Spurs, Pistons, Celtics and a few other teams.
I think Carmelo Anthony and a host of others will sweep up rookie of the year awards for the lack of hype they are getting.

It impressive simply to see a high school player make it directly to the NBA.

Yes, but those players were not starting and playing 42 minutes in their debuts, and were all on teams that were much better than the current Cavs.
The LBJ hype has reached its peak here, and while LeBron may have a few more games where he scores in the 20s and 30s, I think Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade will be brighter additions to their respective teams.

| | | Carmelo Anthony should be the Rookie of the Year, but it won't suprise me at all if James gets it.
While he can put on quite a show, I don't really see the signs of greatness in him everyone else seems to.

| | | I don't follow the NBA alot, but I have to say this. When I first heard all this hype about Lebron, I was thinking the same things as most of you: He's not that good, he won't be the best, too much hype, he'll flop etc... But after hearing his stats and seeing replays from his first NBA game, I must say it was very impressive. Most NBA stars can't put those numbers up, but Lebron, a rookie, a teenager, did it while playing some of the best players in the world. He has my respect.

| | | I will agree that lebron is quite talented, but i wouldn't go as far to say hes the next MJ. does anyone remember when Kwame Brown went to the wizards, there was soo much hype over him, yet where is he know. He is basicly trade bait that will be floating around most his career, so i'll make my judgements after a whole season not 1 game

True, but Kwame Brown didn't and still hasn't ever scored 25 points, which "King James" did in his debut.

| | | If that were the case, then you must have been a huge Cavs fan last year.
0-2. As I said, picking up where they left off. I hate Ohio State too, and I don't get nearly as flamed as much for that...
The Cavs need to get rid of Ricky Davis. He is jealous of all the press LBJ is getting and it showed as he was a meager 9-23.
---------------
No wonder the court in Houston looked different. They must have jacked nosebleed seats up to $85 and court-sides must be in the thousands. $202 Million dollar arena. I hope you can do more than just play hockey and basketball in there.
Andre Miller sounds familiar. Imagine if the Cavs kept him and had LeBron... Anyhow, Miller and Anthony sounds like a good tandem. Yeah, I know, Anthony was also a meager 4-15, but I haven't heard anything about him until Diccky V ran down his preseason top 25 in college hoops. Then of course DV questioned how Syracuse would do without Anthony.
Media favoritism anyone? For $90 million, Alex.
