| | | Radiohead is awesome! Its one of my favorite bands... one that actually pioneers music, rather than copies whatever is currently the popular style. I feel terrible that I didn't get to see them at Alpine Valley...

| | | Radiohead and suck don't go in the same sentence....Radiohead is awesome. If they ever start to suck (which won't happen) they would split up , start their own bands, and those bands would rule.

| | | Why I Like Radiohead
-by Seth
Radiohead's songs are so well crafted. Not one note seems out of place or unecessary. Thom's voice is like a musical instrument, with it's wide range and variations. No other band is as consistent and good at completely reinventing themsevles on every album. No two albums sound quite the same, but you can connect the progression from album to album. Radiohead will go down as one of rock's greatest pioneers.
LeeLoo... Check out songs such as Creep, Street Spirit, Exit Music for a Film, Fake Plastic Trees, Subterranean Homesick Alein...crap, they're ALL good.
You'll see why they deserve their own thread.
BTW, www.greenplastic.com is a GREAT resource for all things radiohead.

| | | Radiohead is probably my second favorite band. Every other band in the world is tied for first.

| | | My order of album supremacy:
1) Kid A
2) OK Computer
3) Hail to the Thief
4) Amnesiac
5) The Bends
6) Pablo Honey
Kid A is just a masterpiece and Hail to the Thief just flows better than Amnesiac. |

Agree.
Radiohead could release 45 minutes of the slushing sound Thom Yorke makes whilst taking a dump, and Radiohead fans would proclaim it to be brilliant because it shows how alienated his world is from the crual, outside world that makes farting noises instead of slushing sounds when they defecate. |

Yes. They get praised, just because they are different. I'm sorry, but since when does being different make you the greatest band ever.

| | | Phil, be glad you're not my age. I had to put up with all of the kids in high school (well, the 6 white kids there) thinking that radiohead and all other "different" bands were the greatest. That was when people wore clothes that former exterminator uniforms, Domino's shirts, McDonald's visors...I guess to be different. It was a bad time to be young and alive.
By the way, that was an excellent analogy Kraken.

| | | I kind of take both sides of this arguement. I don't think Radiohead is a bad band, but I don't think they're the greatest thing since white bread either. I think that OK Computer and The Bends are great albums... but after those... everything they've released, while different and musically pioneering, is FAR from the musicially genius work their fans make it out to be. What they say is true: just because its different doesn't automatically make it good. But regardless, I give Radiohead credit for taking risks with their music with each new CD.
Probably my biggest problem with Radiohead is their fans (not anyone in particular). Radiohead has a huge number of nerdy fans on the internet that literally worship whatever the band puts out. Which is where Kraken's comment comes into play - Radiohead could release the most horrible album ever, and the fans would proclaim it to be a gift from God to the music world. People who don't blindly love the band would be smart enough to know that it isn't the greatest thing ever, but the die-hard fans always come back with "well, you just don't like it because you don't understand it."
No, its just because IT AINT THAT GOOD. End of story.
So yeah. I'm not a big fan of Radiohead but I think OK Computer and The Bends are great albums. Their new stuff (as in, the last 3 albums), I find extremely bland. Also, Thom Yorke is a horrible singer, in my opinion. Very overrated by the fans, much like the band themselves.
