| | | Gay marriage OK'ed by Massachusetts court http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/11/18/gay.marriage.reut/
I'm proud to be living in Massachusetts today. I know some gay couples who helped make this case possible. I also know several priests/ministers who will wed gay couples: a Unitarian minister, a rabbi, and a Protestant minister, as well as couples now plannign to get married. (my town has the second highest same-sex couple rate in MA). It looks like gay marriage is a state right from now on. :)
Please don't turn this into a pseudo-Catholic vs. NAMBLA flame war. Just discuss.

| | | Heh heh, NAMBLA...
As for gay marriages, as a Catholic, the church does not support it. However, I don't really have a problem at all for it. If thats what they want, so be it.

| | | good. its really stupid how there are laws against gay marriage. whats so bad about it? the law that prohibits it is really breaking the ammendment of freedom of religion because religion is the only thing that is against gay people. good for massachussetts.

| | | I think this is a step in the right direction. I think if gay people want to be married then they have that right. I don’t see why some people have a problem with it. After all marriage just symbolizes that two people care about each other. Is that something bad?
Anyway... Good job Massachusetts!
I just thought I would get my 2 cents in before this turned into a flam war.

| | | I think that it is great that gay marriages are being legalized, but I think the choice to perform the ceremony should be up to the priest. Although I do not agree with it, if it is against someones belief they shouldn't be forced to do it.

| | | Way to go Massachusetts. I'm a Catholic, but I am 100% in favor of gay marrages. It disgusts me that some people (including my mom) think that it isn't right. Love is love, it doesn't matter whether it's between a man and a woman or a man and a man or a woman and a woman. The only difference is when it gets to the sex, which doesn't necessarily (sp?) have anything to do with love.

| | | Last time I checked, this was a free country, and homosexuals shouldn't be persecuted for their choices. I hope the rest of the country follows MA's example and stops putting down homosexuals, they're people too.
and MST3K FREAK, I've heard this same sick stuff about murdering gays and lesbians, and all the inferiority crap. Some people....

| | | Personally, I disagree with homosexuality, but that's not the issue. If this is the way these people want to live, then they have every right. They are citizens of this country, and therefore should be entitled to the right to marry, even though they're of the same gender. I applaud Massachusetts' decision and hope that other states follow suit.

| | | Ah, finally. I'm glad this is finally happening. Hopefully this state sets the precedent for other states to follow. I don't mind that people are homosexual. It's not in my interest to know someone's sexuality unless I'm trying to date them (but since I'm a loser, that'll never happen).
Homosexuals do fall in love and they should have the same rights as heterosexuals. I feel that this is one step towards lessening the discrimination towards them. How is it not discrimination if only heterosexual couples are allowed to share the benefits of being married? Fact is, it is discrimination. It's practically the same thing as interracial couples marrying. They weren't allowed to a while ago, but now they've done away with those laws and we're mostly rid of the stigma. The same needs to be said about homosexuals.
