| | | car accident? Have you ever been in a car accident? Were you in the care with someone wile it happened, were you driving, or have you been lucky enough to have never been in one.
I was just in one about an hour and a half ago. I’m fine and so is the other driver but this truly has been something I will remember for a while. :(

| | | I've been driving for 3 months now, haven't been in one yet. I also have never been in one when I was the passenger. I hope to keep it that way too!

| | | I'm glad that no one was hurt, Zero G.
I've never been in one myself, but have been pulled over twice (speeding, pretty extensively, but what can I say), not a big deal really. My husband was in one years ago -- raining, a car 3-4 cars in front of him cut off another driver, and it chain-reactioned into a 3-4 car affair, which he ended up being at the end of. He got ticketed for it on the basis of his truck was in the worst shape (naturally, it was 20 years old and held together with duct tape and chewing gum), but no one was injured. It's a shame that in circumstances like that the real culprits typically get away.

| | | I've only been in one accident driving (2 years ago). It was in a parking lot, and it wasn't my fault.
I've been in several where I have been the passenger though, including 5 on school busses. One of them my left knee/calf kinda got cut up pretty good cuz I got thrown around and I had shorts on (my only injury).
Otherwise, I only have had two tickets on my record (one of them old enough that it's been wiped off my record). One was for running a yellow light (yes, a yellow light... lots of us do it all the time), and another was for doing 45 in a 35 (when they could've doubled my fine and wrote me up for higher since it was in a construction zone along Lake Michigan Drive near my college). When did I get it? Driving home from working a long day @ Michigan's Adventure and was on the road 45 minutes already. |

| | | Let's see where to begin...hmmm...
I've only been in 2 accidents that were my fault I believe.
I was in an accident with my parents where we were t-boned on Independence Blvd (major road in Charlotte) by this guy that ran a red light in broad daylight. He never hit the brakes. I had a blue bruise from the seat belt for days. But I was glad I wore it, I would have been thrown around in the car if not for it.
I ran into the back of 2 people both times because I was messing with the radio in the car (young and stupid I was like 16 and 17). Nothing major just fender benders. One of those was where a group of "insert whatever ugly word you want to here" kids slammed on brakes in front of the car in front of me, and I never saw it and ran into the back of the lady. Scared me really bad because she had a small child, but neither were hurt.
Haven't had a car accident in about 6 or 7 years, and hope to never have another. They really are scary, even when they are minor accidents. I ride the Charlotte transit express bus downtown now, so I only have to drive about 6 miles a day, instead of 30 miles a day when I drove downtown every day.
And Zero G, yeah like I said it can really shake you up. But welcome to the world of driving! :)

| | | Once, this past January, on the way to school, the roads were icy and I wasnt paying attention and slid into the back of the car in front of me. It was just a fender bender though, nothing big.

| | | I've been in a minor accident while my mom was driving, but that's it. My mom and sisters were in a more serious one once, but I wasn't in the car.

| | | The first month I was driving, I got t-boned. I was turning into work, and there was a lot of traffic, so one lady lets me by, but this other lady was using the turning lane to get to her road a mile down as her own personal highway. I sped up to avoid her and she slammed into my right rear wheel and sent me on a 360 spin. I was ok...but very upset...my car was totaled.
R.I.P crappy Integra....

| | | I was in an accident back in '93, I believe. Some lady made a left turn from the turning lane in front of me and I plowed right into her (i had the right-of-way). Her crappy Chrysler LeBaron was totaled, as was my nice Acura Integra (not a crappy car slipknot). I was lucky to only have whiplash. My passenger had 9 cracked ribs, a cracked kneeplate, and a cracked sternum. We were both lucky to be alive (and were b/c of my nice Acura Integra slipknot). The lady (white trash---b/c she pulled a Clinton and lied under oath) was sprayed with glass---good. Had she had a passenger, that person would have died.
Last year, I stopped at a stop sign and turned left, before the car to my right even made it to his stop sign. Since he didn't bother to see me stop (even though i did), he blew through his stop sign and got right on my bumper and started flashing his lights. The road rage had started. To make a long story short (too late), he passed me going up a hill on double yellow---at night, no less. When he cut back over he clipped the front end of my car. He tried to tell me it was my fault. Fortunately, he was so stupid (and sure of himself that it was my fault that he passed me on double-yellow and clipped my car) that he admitted his actions to the cops. He got a ticket and had to go to court. I got a slight inconvenience, but also the last laugh.
The last time I was pulled over, I was clocked going 72mph. Big surprise, huh? |

| | | Ok, now I have more time and can explain.
1. Passenger, 1991-1992. A Car left it's parking spot, in a parallel parking job, and broadsided the car I was in. No injuries to anyone in our car. He had blood coming from his head in the other car.
2. Driver, 1999. Waiting to merge onto a highway, drifted into the car in front of me. Bad news for me, it was a government car. I had 0 damage to mine, but the gov't claimed he had $6,000 in engine damage (note - I rearended his car and had 0 damage).
3. 2000. I was parked, a car backed into mine. $800 in damage, the driver gave me cash.
4-11. 2000-2002. Worked as a pizza deliverer for a while, numerous accidents, knocking off the mirrors on parked cars, backing into cars, etc.
