| | | What side of the hall? You know how here in America we drive on the right side of the road and walk on the right side of the hall? Well, in Europe do you think they walk down the left side of the hall? I know, it's a very randow question but it has been bugging the crap out of me all day. |

Actually, its a pretty weird thing that Chinese and Hebrew writings do that.
I think they don't, but really I have no idea.

| | | Just a little side note, I heard that the reason people drive in England on the other side, is because back when they rode horses, when they dueled, they would use their right hands. I am not sure if thats true or not, but it seems possible. |

| | | Sounds like a plausible theory to me, and definately something that we wouldn't have had in American history. But why, then, when the British have the heaviest influence on American colonization, do we drive / walk on the right side? Why wouldn't we simply have imported that type of cultural effect along with so much else?

| | | Well the US did want to break away from England......
And take a look at this.... quite interesting http://www.travel-library.com/general/driving/drive_which_side.html It explains every reason about why countries have the different sides they drive on.

Interesting website you found there. I never would have thought something like that would actually be useful.

| | | i never knew there was a "right" side to walk on! You get used to driving on either side quickly, remember all of europe drives on the right like you so when people go on holiday they just get used to it. |

| | | Okay, I asked my dad, and he said that when he went to London, it greatly confused him that he people walked on the other side of the hallway. He said that most of the time it wasn't that big of a deal, but in really crowded places (i.e. subway stations), it's really obvious and pretty confusing when he first encountered it.

| | | It doesn't matter to me, since I always choose to walk on the opposite side of whatever everyone is supposed to, because I'm a rebel like that.
