| | | Hardee's Thickburger Discussion Thread [Trip Report] The other day I decided to give in and try one of Hardee's Thickburgers that they've been advertising so much. This would be the first time I have eaten at Hardee's voluntarily since the early 90s, so I was skeptical of their commercial propoganda to get me to try one. They've always sucked as long as I can remember.
Frankly, I've always thought the Whopper was the best burger you could get at a fast-food joint. I got home and unwrapped the burger, and "Thickburger" is no lie. The patty, buns, and toppings were all uncompressed (see: McDonalds). I bit into it.
Best fast-food burger EVER. It actually tastes like a burger should, with that fresh, home cooked burger flavor. So needless to say, I will be getting these whenever I am in the mood for a good, cheap hamburger. Their commercials don't lie. Hardee's used to suck, but their Thickburgers = THE WINNAR.
So I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried one, and if so, what are your thoughts? |

| | | Yes I have.
We used to have many Hardee's in the Baltimore Area. Then the Roy Rogers' around here took them all over. Then all of the Roy Roger's closed.
The Hardee's I remembered had fried chicken, a few burgers, and a few sourdough burgers - Bacon Cheeseburger, Club, and Chicken.
We were without Hardee's for a while, however, on the way to HP there were a couple. Then they all closed.
The other week, I was determined to find one, the closest was in York, PA about 100 miles away and I wanted a Sourdough Bacon Cheeseburger. I got to Hardee's and found that the menu had completely changed. The smallest burger there was a 1/4 pound, no chicken, just burgers - big ones.
It seemed that this might be Hardee's last chance at making a profit. Unfortunately, my sourdough bacon cheeseburger was now only found in a 1/2 pound size. Too much for me, so my girl and I split one.
Just like a remember, the bacon, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, cheese, and 1/2 pound patty are all a perfect complement to the sourdough roll. It is still by far the best fast food burger ever.
Here's my list.
1. Sourdough Griller - Bacon Cheeseburger, Hardee's
2. DQ Ultimate Burger, Dairy Queen.
3. Western Whopper (Special 'occasional' item), Burger King.
4. McJordan (offered 1993), McDonald's.
5. Daily Double (no longer available, discontinued circa 1995), McDonald's.
6. Sourdough Bacon Cheeseburger, Burger King.
7. Double R Bar Burger (Status Unknown), Roy Rogers.
8. Super Hero Deluxe (offered 1995), McDonald's.
9. Arch Deluxe (offered up to 1997), McDonald's.
10. Black and Blue, Ruby Tuesday.

| | | We too ran all of the Hardee's out of town in Charlotte for the most part. They were the dirtiest, rudest fast food place in town. And their food was horrible.
I might have to stop by one of the Hardee's now and try the thick burger. I actually don't eat red meat much anymore, but I will get a taste for one every now and then.

| | | Is the Hardee's thickburger the same thing as a Carl's Jr. Six Dollar Burger? I ask this because Hardee's and Carl's Jr. have the same logo on their stores. If they are the same, then yes the thickburger is the bombest burger in town.

| | | I dunno abou that. Hardee's markets their Six Dollar Burger, then it went away and the Thickburgers came in a little while later. I don't think they're the same, but I could be wrong.
And I have to agree with the Hardee's being ghetto. I wouldn't be going there if not for Thickburgers. |

Consequently, you're all wayyyy off on the best fast food burger, but it's understandable since the chain is only in California, AZ, and Nevada. In'n'Out Burger has the absolute best food of any fast food chain I've ever experienced. Their Double Double, Animal Style is the closest I've come to fast food culinary heaven-on-earth. I think their secret is total freshness...no freezers, heat lamps, or microwaves. I wish I still lived in San Diego... :-(

| | | Your right about IN n OUT. I just keep them in a catagory all their own. They are by far the best burgers you can get fast. Red Robin has the best burgers overall.

While I've never tried In n' Out, I can attest to Red Robin's Bacon Burger being my favorite burger. I have a Hardee's fairly close to home, so I might go out and try the thick burger. It has real angus beef, so it has to be good.

| | | Nope, I try to stay away from Hardee's. I'm afraid I'll be shot or raped.

| | | Haven't been to hardy's since I was in 1st grad (in 10th now). I've seen quite a few of their commercials, and the burger doesn't look bad. I might have to try it sometime.
When I went to LV and Magic Moutnain, I saw an In and Out actually. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it. Maybe if I get lucky enough to go out west again, I'll give it a shot.
Oh, and the Red Robin place. There used to be a big restaurant up on the northside of Indy, but there was too much competition and it went out of business pretty quickly (as far as I know, maybe it's still there haha). I did try it once, and it was okay.
