The New ThrillNetwork

After fairly extensive testing, ThrillNetwork version 3.0 will be launched Wednesday. However, this means there will be some necessary downtime.

On Tuesday, 12/2/2003 at 5pm Eastern (2pm Pacific), we will be going down. Not to worry though, we do have some light entertainment available.

We will re-launch on Wednesday, 12/3/2003, at noon Eastern (9am Pacific). The launch may be delayed up to two hours if we run into any minor difficulities).

Now, for some FAQ's...

1) Why are we going down for at least 19 hours?

Most of the time will be in the installation of vBulletin 3.0. We need to reindex the search function which will take about 14 hours. For that to happen, we need to not have any load in the forums.

2) Is there any new features?

Not really. However, many features have been improved greatly. We have enhanced the look of the park/ride counts, as well as the functionality. We no longer call them coaster counts (as we might eventually add other types of rides). We also have working photo galleries for both parks and for rides. In addition, you can share your reviews and rate the parks/rides.

3) Who is doing the entertainment?

Someone who is known for stressing ride safety and discussing rumors.

4) But I liked the current TN!

Well, change is good. The current site, in its form, is unworkable.

5) What about chat?

That too will be down :(. There's always AIM for now.

If you have any questions, post them here or e-mail me.

Heres hoping everything goes smoothly. I don't want to be without TN as long as the last time you switched everything.

Yahoo! From the words of TNv.3 beta tester:

It looks good :)

Trust me, TN version 3.0 looks spiffier, runs a little smoother, and is way easier to use and find stuff. I hope the forums get a little bit tweekend however. Tumbs up to a good launch.

Also, Raptordude will be no more. Raptordude 2.0 will be launching soon ;).

As one of the other Beta testers...viewing the forums will be much easier. Member profiles look good. I haven't played around with it much, it will take getting used to, it certainly will look different.

R-dude, shouldn't you be version 3.0, or are you behind the times??

Yea well I definitly wouldn't be happy if it was down for this long.

Steven, if this doesn't go well and the site is down for longer then expected, are you going to keep us informed about it so we know what is going on and what to expect and all the stuff like that? I mean through email or something?

if we run into major issues, I'll post it on the front page. But, the site is still scheduled to re-launch at noon Wednesday.
