| | | What a terrible thread name!!! j/k And the PHILLIES weren't even considered!!! We have a lot of gas here in the Philly area. I know the town's desperate; we haven't had a title since '83(Sixers), but there is some roaring excitement for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004. The Vet is gone, Citizens Bank Park is here. We went and got a great closer in Wagner, added Woehers. WE have Thome too! The rotation is among the deepest in baseball: Millwood, Wolf, Padilla, Milton, and Myers. Philadelphia must be given serious consideration this year, Just watch. There's also no denying that they have the best mascot in baseball: The Philly Phanatic HAHAHA

Scarily reminiscent of some former members....
I don't think the Yankees will do it. They will cruise through the regular season, probably still win the NL East, and then lose in the playoffs again. What Steinbrenner hasn't seemed to realized is that his more successful teams through the late 90's had chemistry and were actually a TEAM. The Yankees now are just a bunch of good players thrown together, and cannot play as a team. So they won't win again.

Philadelphia will be Florida's only serious competition for NL East. It will be tough, but the Marlins will beat out the Phils, just like they beat them out last year for the Wildcard. |

| | | I took the liberty of editing the thread title a tad to make it sound better. And the reason for the monkey on the Yanks back...2001, Yankees lost to Arizona; 2002, Yankees lost in the playoffs; 2003, Yanks again lost in the World Series on their home turf (even better for those of us that hate the Yanks).
I am saying the Indians will make a playoff run. BoSox, ChiSox, Twins, Orioles, Yanks, A's, and Mariners will all be contenders in the AL. In the NL, I expect the Braves, Marlins, Phillies (if Thome's finger heals quick, poor baby), Cubs, Astros, Giants and possible even Arizona.
In defense of Bartman, at least he didn't lean way over the railing like some fan did in NY during the Baltimore/NYY series. Somehow, intereference was NOT called, when it should have been. The Oriole outfielder had a right to complain. The beloved Cub running in for the foul ball (Alou was it?) appeared to not even attempt to leap and catch the ball. Hmmm...
