Why do we care so much?

I started this thread to tell about something many people on this board seem to exemplify when arguments are started. Why do people care so much about trying to defend their opinions when they are on here? For Example: Sometimes, an argument may get started over someone's opinion that they have voiced on here (they can do that without other people telling them they are wrong, can they not?). Someone may come back with a statement that refutes their opinion, so the "someone" mentioned above voices their opinion once more, as though trying to force the others to believe it. They may try to defend their opinion and come up with evidence to support it, while the other doesn't change his/her views on the subject. So they keep trying to force their opinion onto the other person, in which case a heated argument ensues, which may cause a lockdown of a previously good thread.

So my question is....WHO CARES?!? Who cares what others think about you? Especially on here, since you will probably never meet them? It just baffles me why people on here care so much about what people, who they will most likely never meet, think about them...It just baffles me...

I expect this topic will be closed down soon, but I had to get that out to you all. You can reply however you want, I don't care. I'm still sticking to my opinion.

EDIT = ah yes, a prime example: a heated argument between kraxleRIDAH and slipknot8257...

Shut Up!

No, seriously, TN is a place for discussion, and discussion will always involve disagreements. This is not Happy McGetAlong Land, there are going to be disagreements and debates simply because it's a forum.

I know people will not get along all the time, and I understand that, but i'm talking about when people try to force their opinions on other people.

Look, that's still part of human nature.

PROTIP: You'll never find the answer.

Yeah, I never expected to find an answer, that's why I put: "I expect this topic will be closed down soon..." because i knew this topic would be hard to answer.

I was just wondering why it is such a big deal that everyone believes everyone else's opinion, but I guess that's because I don't really care what others think. Oh well, this topic can be closed down at any time, I was just letting off some steam.

It's a forum. Nobody is "forcing" anything on anyone.

I agree. Especially when people get in fights over 'their ride'. I'll admit, I do it too, but when I stop and think about it, it makes no sense. For example, I live seven hours away from CP and made my first 2 visits last year. Yet when someone tries to downtalk the park (or say something about MF is better than S:RoS) I, in a sense, feel like it's a personal attack that I need to rebut. Again, it makes no sense...but it is human nature :)

Simple Answer: People have different opinions!

This isn't exactly a club of similar people, although we all enjoy coasters in some fashion.

The reason why we all have different opinions is because we all live in different areas and have different influences. We used to have political flame wars that went on forever with the same stuff, it got dirty. Why don't we all agree on something? Because we're different. People are differen't, just because this is a internet forum doesn't change a lot.

Ok that was a little too simple.

I get what you're saying to a point. People do take it a little too serious at times, but I find no wrong in disagreeing with one another. I don't mind an arguement or even a heated arguement. I think that in a way it is a battle of the minds. It can be fun. I've gotten into arguements on controversial topics with friends but as long as you stay to the topic and don't insult one another, there usually shouldn't be a problem. I don't argue just to start an arguement. So basically on these boards, I don't mind argueing with someone, as long as they don't say anything to insult me asnd treat me with respect, I will do the same to that person.

LP_Reanimator, when I read your post I laughed to myself because you are making a huge deal over something that in a sense you are complaining that other people do. I am not sure how to say it, but frankly you are a hypocrite, you are making a huge deal over something and complain when other people get in arguments but you are starting a huge argument. And yet you continue to argue or back yourself up. Isn't that what you were complaining that other people do to much in the first place? Your first post contradicts what you believe in my opinion. Think about it. Does anyone else agree with me?

After much thought and meditation...this is what I have come up with:

Linkin Park sucks.

Who cares if we DO argue? As long as its in good fun, it makes the boards more lively.
