To all the guitar players out there...

I recently took up the ukulele in extreme boredom. I figured I may as well because no idiot in Chicago plays one. Anyways, do you guitar people know of any way to make a substitute guitar pick or of any thing that could be used? I won't be able to get to a music store until the weekend and I'm just curious what you guys have come up if this problem ever has ever arised at all.

Sorry to the grammar people if I used the wrong form of "their". :leeloo2:

um..maybe you should just wait. i dont know the difference between the two picks. another cool instrument to pick up is the mandolin. Easier if you play violin, though.

A coin can work if you don't have pick, but it would probably be easier just to use you thumb or finger.

I play guitar, and most of the things I try in subsitute for picks doesn't sound that great. Coins sound pretty bad, the way they hit the strings..your best bet would just be using your fingers, even though the sound doesn't come out as sharp.

Um...just use your fingers until you can get some picks...

One of my ukulele's strings broke and I never bothered to replace it. Or, even tune the instrument in the first place for that matter.

It was the best ukulele money could buy for 19 dollars at the Cracker Barrel.

Not a bad idea there. But dont use a coin. It will own your strings.

Cut off the corner of an old credit card, or just use one of those value plus cards that fit on a keychain.

Those little plastic things you use to keep a bread bag or bagel bag closed work very well.

Now that you mention that birdie, it makes so much sense. Those things are almost exactly like a guitar pick.

Take this oportunity to work on your finger picking, no one seems to do it anymore unless the person is like a hardcore acoustic player.

This has happened to me before, and at the time I didn't have any key chains to put plastic things on, so I had to finger pick. Ever since then, I've always kept a pick in my wallet just incase I'm ever somewhere with a guitar but without a pick.
