| | | Just got my wisdom teeth taken out As some of you know, I was downright terrified about getting an operation and being put under, as tis wolud be a first time experience for me. It was quite the opposite.
They laid me down in a bed and put a hair net on me. Then they all of a sudden put a suction thing on my nose and pumped me full of laughing gas.
You think that in the movies and stuff they overract and prented to be laughing really hard....and this was my assumption as well.
But man, I started smiling like crazy, and giggling, and all the fear I had quickly dissapeared....and I was on cloud 9. I looked at my mom and busted out laughing, and then he put the tourniquet on my arm, and stuck the I.V. in....
The I.V. feels just like you imagined, just a tiny little prick on your am....after it was in, this nurse came over to attach a tube, but I was in my own little world so I started yelling at her "DON"T TOUCH IT!!!!"
Then, the doctor raised the entire table, and it felt like I was floating....he told me it would take a few minutes for me to go completely....
And then I was out.
The next thing I knew, I was waking up at 6 pm in my own bed at home.
The best part of this story is, I walked upstairs...and my sister and my mom started laughing. Apparently, after the operation, they picked me up and put me in a wheelchair, then wheeled me out through the waiting room, where I made a bunch of rude cat calls and I waved at everyone in the room. My mom said I had my eyes wide open the whole time and thought I was coherent. They somehow loaded me into my moms car, where I began singing at the top of my lungs all the billboards we passed...once again, with my eyes wide open.
So when we got home, my mom apparently told me to stay put while she went and got the wheelchair from our house, but I opened the door, climbed out, and ATE IT on the concrete....haha. I have a huge bruis and cut on my head.....I just fell on my face...
But I don;t remember a single solitary thing about all these events.
So yeah, I was scared going in, but I wanted to share this rather amusing story and let everyone know who might be nervous about it that it really was no big deal at all.
P.S:Laughing gad rox.

I just got this done a few weeks ago. Like Slipknot said, it's nowhere near as bad as they say it is. I'm surprised you were so messed up afterwards Slipknot. They used Twilight Anesthesia on me, meaning that I wasn't completely put under, yet I don't remember a damn thing. I actaully look forward to my next surgery, gettign put under and what not is awesome.
The bad part about getting your wisdom teeth out (or any kind of surgery) is that your really sore for about a week. For a while, all I ate was soup, but slowly progressed and started eating solid foods. |

You must not have had your wisdom teeth out.
I had a similar experience when I had mine taken out. I had the twilight aneasthesia as well. Apparently I was yelling at the nurses, telling them "I'm awake, I'm awake! Stop it, I'm awake!" This was well after they were done, and I was sitting on a couch in the resting area. I remember, at the time, I could remember them working on me. It didn't hurt, but I remember them breaking my tooth to get it out.

| | | I think I'm one of the lucky few who gets to keep all their wisdom teeth. All 4 are in and looking good. Glad you had a good time being operated on, though.

| | | When I had mine taken out years ago, I was a little concerned too. My sister had just had her's taken out and her wounds got infected. Her face swelled up like a balloon. I didn't have any problems with mine although I did have a bruise on my arm from where they numbed my arm for the knock out gas.

| | | I went under, but not for wisdom teeth (though I may). Very fun. A little mask to my face, and woomph! I was out. Next thing I remembered was sitting up on my couch, with blurry vision, and the room was tilting wildly, then settled. Very odd. Wheeheehee!

| | | I have to get mine out sometime this fall or winter. I'm probably going to do it over Christmas break so I don't have to miss school.
Great story though.
