For those of you who are not from the New York City area, we know you were hit just as hard by the harsh acts of terrorism on 9/11/01.

As I write this, names are being read of those heroes that perished on that fateful day. Being a New Yorker, and losing friends at the World Trade Center, it becomes so hard to push hate aside for those that were responsible for this horrific act.

We must continue to stand united against those who do not believe in our way of life. We are all people....regardless of race, religion, creed, etc. We live in one world. We must do what we can to preserve our world and our way of life, especially in defiance of those who believe that innocent lives must be taken to prove a pathetic and senseless point.

My deepest condolences go out to all of those who lost family and friends. Never forget....and they will all live on forever.

I live 20 min away from NYC. I was a new kid in school that year, so I was pretty much keeping to myself, then teachers start running up and down the halls to tell other teachers what happened. In Gym, already after both towers collapsed, around 10:30, My teacher told us what happened. As soon as everyone found out, a few girls started crying and saying their dads work there. It was so weird. We couldn't reach my aunt for the whole day, she worked downtown. I don't know what it's like to lose a family memeber.

In my school some kid's parents/realatives were never found.

EDIT: The summer of 2001, I was in Chicago, and had taken a great interest in buildings, and went up the Sears Tower, Took a boat to see all of the other famous buildings. So I decided That for my birthday, Sep. 11, 2001, I would go to Manhattan to see some buildings downtown. When I took a train to meet my Aunt there, on Sep 7, it stopped in the WTC station. So I decided we should go up while we were there. 5 days before it happened, I was on the very top. To this day, I remember exactly what I saw from atop there, and I can see it in my head right now. It may have been a strange coincidence that neither of us brought a camera.

I remember that day so vividly. I was sitting in my 2nd period lit class when the priniciple came on the intercom and told us. We turned the tv on just a few minutes before the first tower fell.

Your right Skyle, it is pretty hard to believe it's already been three years.

I remember that day so vividly. I remember waking up to the glowing light of my TV, only to hear "The south tower is on fire". At first I didn't think it was anything important, but then my mom came in to tell me what was going on. I kind of freaked out.

I ate breakfast, still watching it. Then I remember seeing the second plane strike the towers. That was...well...extreme to say the least. Later, I saw them collapse. That was horrific.

My school yesterday had a assembly to commemerate the heroes of 9/11. (Police Officers, Fire Fighters). While it wasn't THAT interesting, I guess it was something good for all students to remember.

Thankfully, I was not directly affected by 9/11. I feel the pain for those who did. I feel that the East Coast suffered the most damage from this event, not physically, but symbolically. A west coast equivelent would proabobly be a plane flying into the golden gate bridge. I think everyone would be affected here by that.

I actually had already slept in my apartment though the incidents that morning on Tuesday, until around 10 AM when I got a call from one of my cousins who was in Boston at the time called and asked me to check out the news at a frantic voice, which I couldn't quite understand since he was talking too fast. And when I tuned on the tv, it stayed on the rest of the day, with my eyes glued to it. It was also amazing to see practically every network on tv covering the events that day.

I had just logged on to an instant messaging at my house when a friend messaged me and told me to turn the tv on. He said something about the pentagon and world trade centers, and that they had been hit. I asked what channel to turn on and he said any channel. I hope none of us forget that day.

I was in 7th grade and sitting in health. We had the radio on and was listening to 107.9 when they were saying all of this stuff about the WTC attack and Then the guy screamed bloody murder and was like OMFG........THE SOUTH TOWER JUST COLLASPED!!!!!!!! OMFG!!!!!!! then you heard people running and screaming in the backround. I was scared. Then yeasterday, in sciene, we watched a movie about how the towers collaseped and what could of been done to prevent that. Also on 9/11, a gas line broke in Akron and flames were shooting high in the air.

When did you brittish hear about this?

It's hard for me to believe it has already been three years. I will always remember 9/11 and when they showed the towers falling over I couldn't believe it was really happening.

I was in my 4th grade class room and my principal came in and said that a plane crashed into a building in New York City, so I didnt think much of it until I came home and I knew the whole story.

Lol, and I was sitting in my 7th hour class yesterday and my teacher mentioned that it will be 3 years ago tomorrow and I was very surprised that it was 3 years ago, I mean that seems like a really long time and it feels like it was just yesterday.
(great post joedonuts, it gave me goosebumps)
