| | | I think that most (key word: most) people won't really care. There seems to only be a few cities where hockey is the big sport. I say no big deal.

| | | I agree with coasterlove. Not that many people care for hockey. It is a good sport to watch. I like all the hitting and that. It just really isn't that big of a deal. |

| | | Yeah I am certainly angry about no season. I was hoping to watch the Sharks win the cup this season. (They could too, simply because the team is full of young players, and we were extremely close last year).
I think last years performance is a good reflection on the future. The Sharks have a ton of potential, they whooped on Colorado which is impressive, nearly beat Calgary, and made it to the western confrence.
Sad there is no season, I was about to buy season tickets, only to realize that there would be no season.
This just really makes me disgusted about all the other pro sports and their salaries. The average NHL player's salary is around 50,000 I think. While Football players are complaining about a 9 million dollar 2 year contract. It makes me sick. You can play one season of NFL and have your life set in terms of financially.
*Sigh*.

| | | I guess the book of Sports Apocolypses are right. When the Tampa Bay Lightning Win the cup, the NHL will disappear. Oh wait, I like Tampa! But still, I want to see them play again, good to have another champion team in Tampa.
But still, just when I was starting to like Hockey alot, they can it this year... |

| | | It does suck. I am a big hockey fan, and I hate to see this.
While it doesn't seem big to average person, it has a pretty big impact. Hockey is one of the 4 big sports in the US, and is a huge source of revenue for many cities and people. It affects the television and radio stations with contracts with the NHL, the cities make lose a source of profit...etc. It makes up a pretty big chain of suckiness.

| | | It really does suck .... Season tickets to the Penguins are now going unused .... as Bill Clement (and Gary Thorne agreed) said during the final of the World Cup;
"For those ticket holders, we are sorry and there is not a damn thing we can do about it. All we can do is say we're sorry." |

| | | No biggie to me. I never liked hockey. If the babies want more mony then let them strike. I personally would not give it to them. They can't strike forever or if they can then it's the end of NHL.

| | | First off guys...this is an owners lockout and not a player strike. The team owners have collectively agreed not to have a season unless there is a new collective bargaining agreement.
Here in Toronto this is a huge deal. Personally I don't care because, in my opinion, no professional athelete (at least those in the big 4) deserves to earn the kind of money that is being paid today. I think the only north american league that has this operative perspective is the Canadian Football League which effectively dictates the salaries for every player, with the occasional exception.
Once again, in my opinion, football/hockey/baseball/basketball players are undeserving of the money they are paid to do nothing more than play a game. |

That's why this happened. My brother loves hockey, so my family watches it. Hockey games are rarely sold out. people aren't interested. We like the Flyers, and they are popular, but the Devils aren't. The problem is that these guys get paid millions of dollars every year, and it's not enough for them.

Yes it should. 99% of the time it's the players.
