I'll start by saying that I'm decent. I just hacked 46 times in a row today (breakin my record) so it was just on my mind...

Yes, I can hack but I don't do it normally. I'm good at it because I've played soccer for 13 yrs.

I didn't know this was even popular anymore. I remember when the fad came out and I thought it was one of the dumbest looking things ever. :)

I used to play it a bit in high school, especially during lunch break with all the "fellas". Haven't played it since then however. It was a lot of fun. Most of us were pretty good come graduation.

I have a chain maille sack, and it's the best sack ever hands down. A kid my school made it for me, and I have a link to a picture of it below.

The rag on the inside has turned black from polishing the rings while I toss it around, so it's sexy looking now.

Same here. A lot of people jumped on the bandwagon to "be cool" and fit in, and everyone had to have one... I didn't though. I don't like it and it's very hard, IMO. So I don't really play it. And it's so annoying that after a while when you've had one, the beads will starting falling out.

^No you're not.

I play sometimes after school waiting for my ride, or before school waiting for my classes to start. BK, you're supposed to tie the sack when it gets to a certain size so no more beads fall out.

I am a skater though lol I just don't dress like it. Usually the "dirt bags" do better than regular hacky sacks but cost a little more.

^^ Hmmmmm... that could mean several things... lol
Wait, when was this fad? [Cephas feels lost]
I'm thinking it started when I was in High School (88-90) Seems like it was around 90 it started and all the "skater dudes" started doing it.

I've never understood while anyone would find it enjoyable, so I haven't ever tried it before.

Huh? Tie a string around it. The hole is at the top (not that you did know that) but yeah. Picture??

I have played around with a hacky sack before, and I wasn't that bad... But I still am not that great when it comes to my feet.

Yeah, I play a lot with my friends. We mostly play "3 Hack Whack" where you hack it 3 times and then smack it with your hand and try to hit someone. My record is currently 44, not too great, but I just got back into it. If any of you guys really like it and want to take it to the next level, check out this site. www.footbag.org Footbag is the name for the sport that most people know as "hackey sack" (which is just a brandname trademarked by Wham-O) Footbag is a bit different, you're usually on your own, and you focus more on stalling and complex jumps and spins then on just kicking it. Most people also use specially made (usually hand sewn) bags that are smaller, rounder, and more stallable then the big stiff crocheted ones.

Just for a random fact, hackey sack was actually invented as a form of physical therapy for people with leg injuries. Pretty cool.

^ Nice first post and welcome to the site Jake.

I don't hack the sack, and it doesn't look too fun. But that is just my opinion.

Yall are from the same town. Neat. lol. yall must know each other. It kinda does make sense for Hacky Sack to be physical therapy for people with leg injuries.

No, like one of the strings from the hacky sack will be loose at the top once enough beads have come out. You take the string and thread it through the mesh on the other side of the hole and tie it. Then the beads won't fall out.
