I was browsing another forum and I bumped across a topic called "Happy Slapping". Apparently, its a new form of bullying that is recieving a LOT of exposure in Britain.

How is this form done? Well, all you need is a camera phone that can shoot video and a random person, and your set. A friend takes the phone and shoots the video while another person is slapping/punching/harassing an innocent person.

In the most extreme case yet, one man, who had fallen asleep at a bus stop, was set on fire while he slept. He survived, but with burning from his waist up he is in constant pain. The perpetrators received six years in a juvenile detention center.


As if there hasn't been enough forms of bullying...

While some might find that funny, others find it horrible. That burning is awful. Just imagine if you fell asleep and someone set you on fire. Hopefully that Britan ****** doesn't make a trans-atlantic voyage over here to the States.

It already has. It's called pranks. Most of the time the are ok, but sometimes like that, it gets out of hand, and it is definitely unacceptable.

Well, of course, you can do that in countries that deny people the right to defend themselves.

I'd love to see that happen over here- three quick taps from Mr .45 and the trend would come to a screeching halt. And on video, no less!

There was a story about that on the news here not long ago. The even had some video of it but not the setting fire footage. I have no words i'm so shocked.

I would like to see someone try that with me.

When I saw the title "happy slapping" I thought it would be a more fun and [I]personal[/I] thread. Guess I was wrong.

So basically we have people who think they have their own TV shows pulling pranks on people. It wouldn't be such a big deal if they weren't doing things that could hurt someone.

6 year is not long enough! I mean think about it, turning the shower on a bit too hot absolutely kills and your skin goes red for a few seconds. Burns from the waist up, man, those people are absolute anus'.

Dang. I could see the punching and beating of innocent people being video taped, but set on fire? This is crazy. What is even more weird is people download and watch these videos and laugh histarically at them. It is just crazy.
