Uptown living.

Hey, Charlotte just announced plans to build 7 new condo & entertainment complex skyrises over the next few years. Whats most shocking is that 6 more are in the planning stages right now between 45 & 30 stories tall, so over the next 6-7 years we could have 12 new skyrises

This is shocking news to everyone here in the area and i read that alot of cities ar doing this now.

I have posted websites where renderings of all 6 buildings can be found and i think all 7 are truely amazing and in 3 years Charlotte will look completely different. I just can't believe how fast this city is growing.

If anyone has renderings of skyscrapers going up or planned in their city post them, I would like to see what alot of cities are building.

All 7 buildings but the pic of the VUE is not working so the 2nd link is to the VUE's website. The VUE is the 2nd tallest and remarkable.

^It is the one in the middle with the lights shining on the top of the building.

We're getting a VUE here in orlando too...

As well as two or three other large condo buildings. I guess they're finally running out of room, so the only place to go is, up.

My dad some consulting for them at the Orlando site. Don't really know what it was about, sorry to be vague....................

It looks pretty cool, especially with that great location. I think you can see it from SWF; I know you could see it from our Marriott resort, which was 3 miles from SWF (I jogged to Kraken and back for exercise).

Hey thats cool. I've always been attracted to downtown living. Hahha. Anything for a couple of tall buildings here in Charlotte. The prices are going to be steep though.

Most of those buildings run anywhere from $170,000 to $220,000

This is a trend we are starting to see.

For some reason Charlotte seems to be ahead of the curve (for once).

Actually Charlotte has about 5 or 6 20 story or less condos that have been built in the past 5 years. All of them are filled from what I've heard.

I acutally work next to the EpiCenter site.

This project will include a movie theatre, a 53 story tower which includes condos and I think offices as well.

Next door they are planning on building a Ritz Carlton hotel (1st for Charlotte and I think North Carolina).

Really this is nothing new if you think about it. In the old days most cities revolved around their downtowns. But in the 70's - early 90's they all left downtown for the suburbs.

Now everyone is heading back downtown for reasons of traffic, no desire for the upkeep on a house, etc.

Charlotte's skyline is already changing with Courtside (which is getting close to being finished) over near the new arena. It's 17 stories.

After several years of nothing new happening downtown, it's been pretty exciting latley. I work in downtown Charlotte.

On a semi-related note. The newest dorms over at San Jose State University are HUGE. When I toured the campus they were about...20 stories high? Anyway they were big, and like hotels. If I end up going there for college, I would wind up in one of those....its one of the tallest things in San Jose!
