| Miniature Golf Coarse - Privately owned.
Does anyone here own their own miniature golf coarse? I've got an itch to build one at my home. I have room for a project like this and I also have my wifes approval.. believe it or not. Not much information online about miniature golf coarses so I thought this might be a good place to maybe find someone who has built one.. or maybe someone who is planning on building one. Since I was a kid I always wanted to live in an amusement park. Well now that I'm in my 30's I'm thinking about building one at my home. A private amusement park. I'm going to start with a miniature golf coarse.. then I plan on building a go-kart track. I figure if my wife lets me build this stuff then she has to let me have ONE full size amusement park ride on the property. If we come to terms on ONE ride then it will only be a matter of time before she is hooked and will let me buy multiple rides. Am I nuts? Has anyone here ever do anything like this? I don't want to have any of this stuff open to the public.. I'm just a big kid at heart so this is just for me and family.. My wife and I don't have children and have no plans for kids. Just the two of us and lots of pets.. Thanks for your input.. hopefully this is the correct forum for this kind of question.. - InTheRed |

Sounds like a good idea, but a few questions... How much land do you live on/own? How rich are you? rides aren't cheap Do you have any technical knowledge or how rides work? You'll need it incase they breakdown Who's going to run the rides, assuming you buy small/medium flat rides? if you want to ride it, then you're going to need an operator How are you going to get the permits? I also suggest that you open some to the public, it would be a good source of income; rides anren't cheap to operate.

I Michael Jackson in the making......... Just kidding. Welcome to TN. This sounds like a good idea. How much land do you own? I have always wanted to do something similar so this sounds really neat.

Technical knowledge.. probably not enough. I would pay someone if something needed to be fixed. Who's going to run the rides.. More than one person would have to be around for me to take a ride. Permit.. I live in the country in an unincorporated area. It would not be open to the public so I shouldn't have any problems. I wouldn't be contacting the county to tell them I installed a ride. The first ride.. I'm thinking about a Scrambler.. Older rides that are in good shape can be had for the price of a good new car. I have done some research on rides. It probably wouldn't be run but a few times a month so I'm unlikely to wear it out quickly. Here is a link to a picture of one.. http://kingsdominion.schoolreference.com/scrambler.jpg |

I'm honestly not a big fan of kids so I have no plans of having kids over. My wife could have kids over (family) I suppose but ideally when I was not around. They make so much noise.. I'm just not one of those people.. I like kid stuff just not kids. haha.. |

If you want to email me I can send you some of the stuff I have on miniature golf as my dad has been thinking off building one for a while now and we have gathered a lot of information on it. It really does seem like an easy thing to build/run based on the info we've gotten.

I plan on building the coarse myself but I want it to be really nice. I figure it will take me about a year to build in my spare time.. a hobby. I also figure it will take about that long to completely convince my wife that I'm serious about all my ideas. I want to do as much of the work myself as I am qualified to do. I figure I will enjoy it more than if I had someone else do it.. it will also be a heck of a lot cheaper. I want to save money on these projects when I can so I can justify building more. My ideas may seem insane but I do honestly have a reasonable budget in mind. Thanks again! |

If you know what people like, you could perhaps make a killer Go-Kart course. At my local track (Big racetrack, for like Nascar, NHRA etc.) They have professional Go-Kart races (Go Karts that hit 100+) and they're INTENSE. That would be wicked if you made something similar (Not like family fun...more so intense racing...) Theres also a indoor place near me with a slick track inside a huge warehouse. The Go Karts are able to drift and slide all over the place. If you want all the time fun....building one of these would be through the roof. Some not-possible ideas from me..but hey...just to get ya goin about ideas.

I wouldn't want to create a track for the super fast karts though. I like the idea of having a fun safe place to play but with karts that fast I would just end up killing myself when nobody was at home to call 911. |
