| Teen Jobs
If you had/have a job when you were beween 15 and 19, what did you do? I work at a movie theater and sell tickets, do concessions, clean theaters, etc. , but I dont like it too much though the only reason i still work there is the free movies. The place I work at the most right now is a golf course as a cart boy because I get paid more plus tips, not to mention free golf (it would normally be 45-60 dollars per 18 holes). I also worked at a car dealership and moved cars in and out of mechanics stalls there. I quit there because of bad hours. If that was confusing, to sum it up i work at a golf course and a movie theater, but primarily the golf course. I started at the movie theater at age 15. Ive been 16 for a while now and started at the golf course a month ago.

I worked at a movie theatre for a few years too. I started when I was 17 and stayed there till a little before I turned 20. I actually really enjoyed it. After about a year I was promoted to assistant manager which made the job much more enjoyable. We had a really close nit crew so we'd stay after close and thread up movies and a whole bunch of good times.

I've worked at Canadian Tire, Effem Foods (chocolate factory that makes Mars, 3 Musketeers, Snickers & Milk Way bars), Featherlite Ladders and Roy Foss Motors between the age of 15-19. At Canadian Tire I worked in customer service. I didn't really do anything though.... At Effem Foods I swept and shoveled chocolate all day. At Featherlite Ladders I made, you guessed it, aluminum ladders. And at Roy Foss Motors I was in charge of keeping the body shop clean and washing car after they had been painted or repaired.

My first job, two summers ago, was at Knott's Berry Farm. I would have continued the job, if I didn't have to move up to Santa Barbara for my freshman year in college.

I work at a local Ice Cream Parlor and love it. Its Silbermanns Ice Cream, and they make the best Ice Cream I have ever tasted. Its local, and NOT a chain. Its family owned through so far two generations. The Store just had its 40th Anniversary this year. Website: www.silbermanns.com What I do: I do basically everything. I am mainly a scooper and help customers, but I also make novelties, wash dishes, help make ice cream, and other various things. EDIT: I also used to be a lifeguard at my local pool. I got my new job at Silbermanns and quit lifeguarding at the pool. I don't like it anymore...slash at all. The hours there sucked, lifeguarding is boring as hell, and the pool kinda sucks. Overall...it just kinda sucked...and it somehow got worse this season.

I started out working for my local school district when I was 16, but that ended when I moved. From there, I worked for a company called A-Plus Computing Services, which oddly enough, had maintenance contracts with my new school district as well as a couple of others. They also did businesses. I worked there from 17-18, and when I turned 18, I got to go to some rather interesting clients (I can't mention on here). Then, I quit to start college. After that, I worked at Digilink Computers til I was 20. That job led to the first time I ever had to collect unemployment LOL.

My first job was when I was 16 at Best Buy. I worked in Video Games/DVDs/CDs/Computer Games. Worse Job Ever. I had to restock mostly, which sucked. I never got to do customer service, but when I did people always complimented me or to my managers. Then I moved on to Aeropostale seasonally, which was wonderful. My managers always put me in the front of the store to greet people since I was loud. After the season, I went to Tropical Smoothie Cafe, which I worked for the summer and winter vacations. I made smoothies, wraps, and sandwiches. I can still make them quite well without their stuff. Then I did the Walt Disney World College Program, which was the best job of my life. I worked at the Living Seas and Soarin'. Now I'm back at college working on the Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Ireland!
I worked at Canada's Wonderland for three seasons. Now I'm looking for a job up by my home and university.
You work at wonderland? Crazy. When I was 13 until I was 16 I delivered newpapers. When I was 16 I got a job at a grocery store as a cashier and I was promoted almost two years ago to working in the office. The pay isn't good. I only work at the grocery store one day a week now to keep my benefits. I also work at Patheon where we package Citracel, Hot lemon, Heart worm medicine, Eno, Theraflu and Aveeno. It pays well but the 12 hour shifts are killing me. I'm thinking of just working my ass off for now to save money. I want to get into automechanics. |

Up until I was 14, I was a paperboy. I could get my route of 40 customers done in 10 minutes. Then I decided for more work and went to be a caddie. I made over $1000 in my third summer. Also that summer, I caddied a pro-am event for the LPGA stop near Toledo. Then to top off my part time work, I started working for Meijer (those of you in the Ohio/Michigan/Indiana area know what I'm talking about).

I worked for a pharmacy when I was 15 for a summer. Wow, that was soo much fun. We rarely had any work because it wasn't a busy store..which meant alot of my time was spent at the register reading a magazine. My next job was working at a grocery store when I was 16. It was unionized. It was a fun job because the day went quickly, except when it was raining outside and I had to get shopping carts. I took the next summer off (ahh...the summer following hs graduation off...) When I was 19, the summer after my freshman year of college, I worked landscaping. And that alone was motivation enough to make me try really hard to do well in school (so much so that I was a double major and graduated cum laude. God landscaping sucks, and it's such a great motivator at the same time)... That's it for my teen jobs. I feel old, now.

Well next summer I'm getting a job at a vineyard near my house. My sister worked there this year. The pay is decent for an under the table job (where I live the only places to work are farms and places like that) and the bosses are the best people to work for; they give you all sorts of perks and bonuses. I don't mind physical labor either so I think the job will be a pretty good one. Then when I get my license I want to try for a job at Dorney.

Well, I managed to get a part time job in Merchandise at SFoG, but then I quit, as they made me wear pants in 105 degree heat and they also were working me over-time and I was not getting paid for it. Also, I was really focused on making it past USS Sectionals, which I had been stuck in for the past 3 years. I finally made Zone (2nd highest, Nationals is the only thing better) as a 15 year old in the 15-18 age group (I <3 LCM). Now, I work at Circuit City with one of my friends, Kris, who is a senior (I'm a junior). I make $10 an hour and work the floor in general electronics (read computer games/other computer stuff). Hopefully, I'll be promoted on my 16th birthday, as that's the minimum age for section manager.

I worked at a local ice cream place called Cool Cow Ice Cream for three years (summer 2001-summer 2004), and it was the easiest, coolest job ever. I met a lot of great people (including my current girlfriend) and have many fond memories of our adventures during the slow times. When I first started, I had to don a purple cow costume and venture outside into the 80-90 degree heat to try and lure customers into the store. Eventually I was promoted to supervisor, and got to boss around other workers while generally slacking off myself. Ah, those were good times.

I've been looking but have kind of falling off since school is back in. I've still been looking on weekends and while I'm up at the mall but haven't got any call backs yet. If I do get a call back I am definently going to take it though.
