What Would You Do With 1 Million Dollars?

What would you do with 1 Million dollars?
-$-1-,-0-0-0-,-0-0-0-`
I would buy a bunch of houses and rent them out to keep money coming in, buy a not too big, but not small house, with a basement, and get a nice in-ground pool in the back, with a wrestling ring with a roof over it and a trampoline. I'd have to have a basement for all my junk, like K'Nex and such, and speaking of K'Nex, I'd buy a bunch of those. I'd get an Escalade EXT in black, for short trips, and for long trips, so I don't waste gas, I'd have a Corvette, lol. Nah, that's too showy, I'd get like an Acrua TL. It's a nice car. I'd then try an open some kind of store and buy a whoooooole bunch of video games and have a nice TV in my living room and every bedroom. I'd get a basketball court too, and a make sure it's a big enough backyard to play football in, not 100 yards, but you know what I mean. Hey, maybe I would have a 100 yard football field. And a scoreboard and field goals and decorated end zones. I'd looooove to build a roller coaster in the backyard too, if I had a permit.

I don't think you could buy a bunch of houses, but it all depecnds.

I'd pay off the mortgage for the current house that we live in, and then I'd buy a car for my mom, my brother and myself. For my mom, I would get her a BMW 760i. For my brother, I'd get him and Escalade of some sort, and for myself, I would get a Porsche Cayenne.

I'd buy an automatic kitty litter cleaner, and then I'd also fix that weird "problem" under our sink.

Last but not least, save another 3,000 to go on a short vacation to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Goteborg.

^ yeah, I was just thinking about that. A roller coaster would be very expensive. lol. I would probably pay off the mortgage, buy cars for the family, like you said, do the stuff I said, just buy like 3 houses at first though, and the rent money from people who rent them would probably cover it. I'd take a vacation to Disney World and then hit up as many theme parks as possible with the money left over. Okay, I'll do this more logically.
-
With 1 Million dollars, I would rent out the house I currently live in, and buy 2 more regular sized houses for renting to get an income, and one big one, but not huge house, with 4/5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a basement, and a nice backyard. I'd get a nice pool, in-ground, and a trampoline, and make sure the backyard has plenty of room for playing around. Also, the house would have a 2 car garage and I would pay off my mom's car and get an Acura TL and a $5,000 gas card, so if we ever go broke, we can still go places. I'd buy 3 flat screen TV's, 2 f2'' for me and my mom, a 32'' for my sister, two more 32''s for the 2 guest rooms, and one 72'' for the living room. I'd book a week's vacation to Disney World and a 2 week vacation to Siesta Key. That might actually go over budget though.

Youd have to wait to drive those cars, as for buying all those houses, i dont think it would gain you as much money as you think. But as for me i'd buy my mom a house, just cuz shes really important to me, id have a big wedding and honeymoon for my gf and i, then the rest i'd use for a nice place, and then try my luck in hollywood since my dream is to be an actor.

Invested the right way, I could retire...but I'd rather have 10 million at my disposal. Charities would get donations, and most importantly, my parents would get to take a second honeymoon. My sister and her soon-to-be-husband would get a gift check for their house. My choice of transportation would not change. A small house would be in order. With what energy prices are today...a large chunk of that money would go towards energy bills. If I had enough left over, I'd save it, and get a part-time job somewhere to keep me busy.

If I Had $1000000 (If I Had $1000000)
I'd buy you a house (I would buy you a house)
If I Had $1000000 (If I Had $1000000)
I'd buy you furniture for your house
(Maybe a nice chesterfield or an ottoman)

If I Had $1000000 I'd build a tree fort in our yard.
If I Had $1000000 You could help, it wouldn't be that hard.
If I Had $1000000 (Maybe we could put a little tiny fridge in there somwhere.)
We could just go up and hang out. (Open the fridge and stuff. There would be
food laid out for us, little pre-wrapped sausages and things.) Mmmm. (They have
pre-wrapped sausages but they don't have pre-wrapped bacon.) Can you blame
them? (Well, yeah!)

If I Had $1000000 (If I Had $1000000)
I'd buy you a fur coat (but not a real fur coat that's cruel)

I'd buy you John Merrick's remains (ooh all them crazy elephant bones)
If I Had $1000000 I'd buy your love

If I Had $1000000 We wouldn't have to walk to the store
If I Had $1000000 We'd take a limousine 'cause it costs more
If I Had $1000000 We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner.
But we would eat Kraft Dinner. Well of course we would we'd just eat more. And
buy all the fanciest ketchups for it...dijon ketchup! Mmmm..

If I Had $1000000 (If I Had $1000000)
I'd buy you a green dress (but not a real green dress that's cruel)
If I Had $1000000 (If I Had $1000000)
I'd buy you some art (a Picasso or a Garfunkel)
If I Had $1000000 (If I Had $1000000)
I'd buy you a monkey (haven't you always wanted a monkey?)
If I Had $1000000 I'd buy your love

If I Had $1000000, If I Had $1000000

^Lol, WildFyre. If I had a million dollars I would spend $500,000, save $250,000, and invest in a safe bond with the other $250,000.

Who in their right mind would buy a rollercoaster if given a million dollars? You can't even buy a Vekoma Boomerang for less than $5 million...

What would I do with a million dollars? Buy a new car, get a nice apartment, and save/invest the rest. 'Cause to be honest, a million bucks is really not THAT much nowadays.

^Why do we Philly area guys think the same!?

These days a half million could get me a house. Only $500,000 left to just mostly invest. I have to think about the retirement later! I could spend a few thousand on a nice tuned car, a lifted pickup, and a General Lee replica.

"Laughing....that's it? You had a million dollars and you'd do two chicks at the same time?"

...and what would I do if I had a million dollars...besides two chicks at the same time....

What I really would do is pay off my bills and save the rest in something that will pay me back some interest or otherwise from my savings or investment. It would have to be something that's not very risky. I'd buy some simple but nice stuff but wouldn't go nuts since a million isn't a lot of money all things considered.

And then I would do "nothing. I would relax and sit on my ass all day. I would do nothing."

Well, I'd go to work and take a huge dump on the general manager's desk for starters. Trust me, he deserves it. I'd also save some for the Human Resources prick that is neither human nor resource.

Obviously unemployed, I'd load up my tools, head home, and find a nice piece of land to build a home on. Not ridiculously expensive on either the home or the land- but nice, just the same.

I'd put about 40K in a mildly aggressive invesment portfolio in my daughter's name. In 13 years, when she turns 18, this money would be used for college, and the rest would be reinvested for her to use wafter college when she's "starting out"

Give my Mom, sister, and mother-in-law each about 50-75K. The mother-in-law's piece comes with the stipulation that my lazy sister-in-law has to finally (at age 32) get her first job, and keep it.

That leaves me with about a half million remaining. Use about 50K to start my custom sheetmetal and paint business, and the rest gets invested in a mildly aggressive portfolio.

I'd probably set aside some money for an insane summer of coasters, then pay my way into an awesome college with the rest of it.

I could also buy a TN t-shirt...

What the heck is "err zutem"??

The neat thing about investing the money...is that it accumulates interest and you could live off the interest.

just speaking of money, does anyone know if someone won the power ball this week?

anyway, with 1 million, i'd buy a DDR game for my basement, an xbox 360, put some money in for collage, take my friends to CP and get no line passes, and i'd give the rest to my family

I'm not sure how your lottery works, but here in Ontario you pick 6 numbers from 49 to win.
In math class we figured out the actual odds and how much you would need to buy every ticket. It turned out to be around $28million for every ticket, so even with $1million your odds wouldnt be much higher.

Now, maybe if you go into a bank, mathimatically prove to them that you will win with a $28million loan and can pay them back right away, you might have a chance. But finding a bank that would do that, and finiding a way to write out over 13 million tickets is an even bigger gamble.

Your odds on winning with 1 million tickets would be much higher than if you had one for example.

Well, the odds as it stands is about 1 in 13-14 million. So at $2 a ticket $1million would get you 500,000 tickets, which doesnt improve your odds by much.

Since I'm doing pretty well as it is (I'm not bragging, I'm just setting the tone for my endevors) I would invest my money in a little amusement park and have it gradually grow to reach the status of a six flags or cedar fair style park. Honestly this is what I would do. It would be a free ride to where I want to be when I die. Either that or I would start my own coaster firm down here in florida. All we have is Mr. Teske of Vekoma down here and every thing else is either over seas, way up north, or way out west.

Gambling is mostly for entertainment value. Just thinking about what you would do with the money is entertaining. Chances of winning are damn near zero.

If you do win, Uncle Sam will take 40-50% up front. Then he will take more with sales and luxury taxes. If you buy anything with reoccurring costs, you will incur them too. For example, an expensive car with have high insurance and registration rates. Property has property tax and usually a broker fee too.

Rides are in their own league. The reason why there is a big gap between a new ride and a used ride is that the ride itself is only part of the cost. There are transportation, installation, operation, and maintenance fees. Parks usually pay between $20K to well over $1M per year per ride. It depends on the ride. The base price is a kiddy ride. A bigger more complex ride costs much more. Kingda Ka and TTD can easily cost their parks several million dollars per year.

Personally I would buy a reliable car, a decent house, blow off 5-10% and save the rest. Cars lose value quickly, good cars tend to lose it somewhat less quickly. A house is another investment. There isn't any money to be made off of them. Most people pay nearly 3 times the value of their house in interest. That is one hurdle you would be able to avoid if you could pay for the house upfront. Blowing off some money is fun. I could have a nice vacation, buy some random stuff, and donate $10 to TN.

Will that ever happen to me? The answer is very unlikely. I hardly ever gamble. The only times I do is randomly or if I get a lottery ticket or something for a present.
