| Offensive T-shirts?
I found this on my local news page... http://news.yahoo.com/s/wews/20051102/lo_wews/3033493 What are your thoughts on this? Personaly, I think these people should ligthen up, the shirts are meant to be funny, not serious. About 90% of my t-shirts have a sexual double meaning, but I, nor most people around me, take them seriously. Most of the people that read my shirts actually laugh because they thing they are funny. Honestly, these girls shoud lighten up and take a joke.

Yeah, those girls should chill out. Those aren't half as "bad" as some of them out on the market. Like WildFyre said, it is a joke, not something meant to be taken seriously.

^ Exactly my point. Those A&F ones aren't half as bad. Wait until those pissy girls get to that site.

That site had some pretty good shirts, granted I wouldnt wear a few of them for racist remarks, but some were pretty funny. You gotta love how that site has an offer to pay for your transportation if you get kicked off a flight for wearing one of their shirts.

These people need to take a break. If they have a problem with the shirt, no one is forcing them to look at it.

I think its in bad taste for A&F to print them, because it is demeaning. However, its still their right to print them, and people vote with their dollars. Seems to me thats what these girls are doing.

Notice, if you click the Newsnet5 link, you get redirected to the ABC afilliate in Cleveland. Then note this quote:
A group of girls in Pittsburgh is so upset by the T-shirts that they have decided to boycott the store completely.
<Insert Pitt bashing joke here> C'mon, its Ambercrappy and Stitch (note MY take on them). Who cares? If that's the case, then let's get after Spencer's and other stores for selling similar shirts. Sayings such as: "I Used to be schizophrenic, but we're ok now," and "My parents said I could become anything, so I became an a$$hole." If anything, the mental health people should be after the first such saying... The slogans in the news story? C'mon...those have been around since I was a teen. And that is back in the early 90s. If this shows that teen girls these days are that bad...I fear for the future of this country...and the guys that have to deal with these girls.

Those who wear those shirts should not persecuted because the shirts are offensive, rather because they are metrosexual and preppy enough to shop at Abercrombie and Fitch. On a more serious note, I'm sort of on the girls' side. Do I find the shirts offensive? No, of course not. But then again, I'm a guy. I didn't take the time to check all of your genders, but I'm gonna assume you're all guys. You got to think about it from a different perspective than your own. Also, different people have different levels of tolerance, you can't fault somebody for not being as lenient as yourself. That being said, I have a good number of offensive shirts and will continue to wear them knowing full well that, while most people will enjoy them, a select few will hate me for it. I understand and accept this. |

I have many shirts from sites like Engrish and TShirthell. In 2004 I even got sent home from school and was told if I had the hoodie on once more in school I would be suspended.... The shirt said "I hate my life...." I also have a shirt that makes fun of sars and things being tested on animals... |

You want a really bad thing...at work, I was told to turn my wrestling shirt inside out because on the front it said: You suck (on the back, Its True). Nowhere near as bad as those "Big Johnson" shirts....

Dear God people, it's a T-shirt. I really don't like Abercrombie and Fitch, but if you have to complain about offensive things in this world, find something worth while. I don't think that A&F shirts like that are worth complaining about.

I think the shirts are offensive. I don't think that the company should be restricted from selling the shirts but I question those parents who let their daugthers wear those shirts. Also another problem I have with it is the double standard it presents. A shirt that says something like "who needs brains when I have these?" printed right over where a girl's breasts will be asks to have her breasts stared at or at least read. Of course many of those same girls are going to be upset when their breasts are stared at by guys. The way I see it is if you're going to have a comment like that or showing an excess of cleavage, you have no right to think that your breasts are off limits for being looked at. So ladies, don't get mad when I'm staring at your tits, I love 'em, can't help it. What's the point of showing them or having writing on them if you don't expect us to look at them? I wouldn't wear pants with my schlong hanging out if I had a problem with women looking at it.

It's funny to me that A&F started out as like a Brooks Brothers type store and somewhere along the way they turned into the trendy expensive Gap Wannabe they are now. They like controversy. It sells. End of story.

I don't shop at Abercrombie & Fitch. Can't stand those dumb preppy closes but I will say I think this is rediculous. It is a shirt and just leave it at that. It only becomes bad when you make it bad. So just leave it at that or I'll give you something to scream about......ha!

If they find it offensive, then don't buy it. The shirts are supposed to be humorous to those who buy them, and if you don't like them, you don't HAVE to buy them. Don't get pissed off because other people like to wear the shirts and find them funny. These same girls are the ones who wear mini-skirts and spaghetti strap shirts but they get offensive when they catch guys looking at them. Their clothes are basically demanding attention from everyone, yet they get offended from these shirts. Just doesn't make sense...

what I find funny is that A&F and Aero and all the same stores have been selling guys shirts like this for years (Remeber those shirts that had the message printed on the inside like "If it swells ride it"?) get no flack. I'm sure they did enough market studies to know that they could make money by selling the girl versions, and I know a few girls who would wear stuff like that. So all I have to say is those girls need to grow up and get over the fact that some girls would and will (especially after this "controversy") continue to buy and wear these types of shirts.

I heard about this on the radio yesterday morning. I just started laughing that this would cause such an uproar. Some politicians just need to get a life and get back to basics. Go ahead a boycott A&F. It won't hurt and they won't stop makeing the shirts. There only offensive to insecure people.

The only offensive thing about Abercrombie shirts are the prices of them.

^Thank you... Anyways, I hate this PC country. Heck, Im wearing a shirt I got at American Eagle for 5 bucks that has a sexual double meaning. Do I get in trouble for that? No. Then, I wonder if anybody gets my signature? :P

The worst part might be that they are calling it a girlcott and not a boycott. Look, if you don't wanna see "naughty" t-shirts and other things, do NOT go to Abercrombie, American Eagle (even thought theyre a bit better about it), Hollister, sometimes Pac-Sun, and many stores in general. Stick to Kohls, Target, or something like that... And Homer, I get your sig..haha
