| GoodBye Terrell Owens!
This guy was a complete BUTT! What do you think about him being kicked off the team for 2005-06 season? Katie, avid Stilla fan.

I don't think they should have done it. The Eagles should have realized before they signed him that that is his personality most of the time. He likes to critizise things. They should just ignore it and let him perform on the football field. He does that better than any other wide reciever in the NFL. The Eagles brought him in to finally get over the hump and get them to the Super Bowl. Guess what, they went to the Super Bowl last year and T.O. played on 1 leg just for the team, and not only that, he played well. Remember, if the Eagles gave him the contract he deserved at the beggining at the season, most (if not all) of this would have ever happened. Then again, I don't live in Penn. so I don't really know how most of those people feel up there about this.

Being a Steeler fan and all, it doesn't really affect me...They guy does have a big mouth, but the sad thing about it is that he has the skill to back it up. I find it hilarious that complete nobodies act like T.O. like Freddie Mitchell, but when you have a guy with as much talent as T.O., he can back up whatever he says. He busted his ass last year and did disobey his doctors to play in the SuperBowl with his team, and he did do all he could to win. But some of his comments are outrageous, taking shots at McNabb is uncalled for. I'm just glad that I'm a fan of a team who has class and doesn't have any big mouth and arrogant players. I'd be baffled if Hines Ward or Antwaan Randle El ever spoke out at Ben. If Terrell is released at the end of the season or even traded, I don't see there being any takers for him other than people who are very desperate, possibly the Vikings seeing how they have a pretty good QB. I know one thing for sure though, the Steelers won't take him. Cowher had problems with Burress, who pretty much was a nobody before Ben came to town, so I don't think Cowher let alone the Rooneys could deal with T.O. |

If you have cancer, you get rid of it. TO was a cancer in the lockerroom, so they got rid of him. Would you want a teammate or coworker that continually bashes you playing or working with you? I wouldn't. Here's a few comments I made in other forums regarding this:
I think a phrase that would fit here would be "biting the hand that feeds you," which is something he tends to do a lot. The guy acts arrogant, is arrogant and can't stand to be out of the spotlight, no matter how negative it is. Just take a look at his comments... On the Eagles Franchise: (regarding the non-celebration of the 100th TD) "They claim to be first class and the best organization. It's an embarrassment. It just shows a lack of class they have." On Playing With Brett Favre: "I feel like him being knowledgeable about the quarterback position, I feel like we'd probably be in a better situation." And then he comes back with: "It has been brought to my attention that I have offended the organization and my teammates. Therefore, I would like to apologize for any derogatory comments toward them." First off, let me extend a big DUH to TO and slap him upside the head a few times. It might get him to start thinking before he speaks. There are ways of saying the Farve is better than McNabb without saying it. $100 says someone wrote the apology for him. If you really think as a pro athlete you can speak against your team, then come back the next day and apologize thus thinking all is forgotten...then there is something wrong. Because you know something, it doesn't work with the rest of us blue and white collar workers.
And then, TO apologizes today, reading a prepared statement (obviously not prepared by him). Its quite obvious guys (and gals), if you are going to open your mouth and criticize people, be prepared for any repurcussions. The way TO acted in the past, all the way up to this weekend, if he were in a blue or white collar job, his ass would have been fired already...

T.O. just has too much mouth. He's going to have a crazy time finding work next season because I don;t know if any team will want to deal with him. The Vikings just dumped Moss, and he was in no way as bad as T.O. You think they'd pick him up? No way. Somebody somewhere suggested the Raiders, and that's the closest thing I can see. However, I don't think they'd want to deal with him either. I'll be very interested to see who picks up the cancer with great hands.

I'm an Eagles season ticket holder, and I have to say I'm glad he's gone. Don't get me wrong - what he did last year was probably one of the most heroic efforts in modern sports, right behind McNabb's performance a few years ago against Arizona (played the whole game on a broken ankle while throwing 4 touchdowns to win the game). That said, he had no room to act the way he did during the off season. He signed the contract last year and was fine with it then. He knew how it was written and it didn't magically change after the Superbowl. All he needed to do is continue to play like he did last year and keep his mouth shut, and he would still be an Eagle today and through the next 5 years. He would have gotten his money - all $49 millon of it. Now not only will he be losing the last five years of his contract, he will lose the $7.5 million roster bonus that he was due in March of 2006. He won't get anywhere close to that next year, even from a desperate team. No one has that much room under the cap, or the desire to overpay that much for such a headache. He'll end up signing a one year incentive filled contract each year for the next couple years before his better playing days are behind him. Even if he plays for the next five years, he won't make close to the remaining $40 million that he just threw away. To make it worse, for the next four games that he is officially suspended, he will not get paid (approx. $200,000 per game). Also the Eagles knew he had the potential to blow up like this, so his contract has heavy language in it to protect them from his behavior, even to the point that since he is being suspended due to conduct detrimental to the team, he is required to repay a portion of his original signing bonus. He appearantly has a mental disorder, which is the sad part of this whole story. He is just not capable of sound reason. I was very excited when they made the moves to aquire him, but also knew the dangers involved. They loaded all their guns and took a shot and it worked for one year. A three point loss to a modern day dynasty in the biggest game of the year is nothing to be ashamed of. They won before he was here and they will win now that he is gone. They are a better TEAM without him.

I guess it's good for the team that he's gone since he was such a distraction. I never really followed the Eagles or the whole TO thing but i also think now the team will suffer this year.

I think all of their offensive and defensive players get along very nicely. Another team that has no problem cooperating is the Seahawks. They can both run and pass the ball and I'm sure the recievers get along with Hasselback. I'm surprised by how well they are doing this year.

The Vikings, in my own opinion, are the most likely candidates. They've seen what happened when they lost their go to guy, and I'm sure they're new owner will be pretty desperate after this season to get somebody who can take Moss' place. But If T.O. can't get along with Donavan McNabb, then who can he get along with? I think he needs to be on a team where the QB is not afraid to talk back life McNabb was. Also, the Falcons are pretty hard up on receivers, but with all the running they do, I doubt T.O. would go to a team that won't pass them the ball that much. Besides, after signing that big contract with Vick, I doubt they have enough cap room to fit T.O. on their squad. Of course, theres all your other sucky teams like the BROWNS, Saints, Cardinals, Cowboys, and Bears where he could go to. I'd be a trip if he ended up back at San Francisco.:D |

T.O. and Chad Johnson are reasons why I can't stand the NFL. Its almost turning into a reality TV show with the "challenges" being the actual games. Whatever happened to team ethic? If you're injured, got a big mouth, or just do something stupid you're gonna make sports center. Pro Athletes love attention, and theres nothing like seeing your name on sports center and grabbing attention from everyone. Hell, why not go up and punch a random fan? Ron Artest was all over the news for days. I'm dead serious about the reality show thing. The only pro sport that isn't given rediculous attention for stupid things is the NHL. The Bertuzzi thing was kind of interesting...none the less.

The Bears aren't a great team but they're 5-3, they lead their division and they're tied with Indianapolis for fewest points allowed in the NFL. So how do you get sucky out of that? I think it's fair that Owens was suspended without pay for the maximum four games. He is a burden to the team and causes distractions. It makes me glad to hear a team not let themselves give in to their player(s) regardless of their skill level. I don't see any team giving him a big contract. He might go season by season playing for perhaps another couple teams or more. Just those deperate enough to try and give him a shot for a chance at the playoffs or Super Bowl.

Both Chad Johnson and T.O. back it up by what they do on the field. The Eagles need to ignore what he is saying and let him do his work on the field and help the Eagles win. Altough I do hate his agent. He really gets on my nerves.
Of course, theres all your other sucky teams like the BROWNS, Saints, Cardinals, Cowboys, and Bears where he could go to. Bill Parcells wouldn't put up with it, and T.O wouldn't want to be his water boy all year long. The players on the team would have none of it either. Any spats the Cowboys have stay on the field and usually last a matter of minutes. For example, Kayshawn fumbled in a game. Drew told him to hold onto the ball and Keyshawn exploded for a few. After the game, Drew tosses a towel at Keyshawn, poking fun at the fumble. They smile and laugh it off. No hard feelings. T.O. isn't that type of guy. He simply wouldn't fit in.

Vekoma...do you see the letter "I" in the word team? Neither do I, nor do the Eagles, but apparently TO does and there inlies a problem. When a player starts thinking more for himself that for the team, then the problem needs to be dealt with. Go into school tomorrow and spread false rumors about your friends, then apologize 2 days later. See how old that gets.

As an avid Eagles fan, I'm happy he's gone. All he did was cause problems, and a good way to end your career in Philadelphia is to attack the only untouchable, Donny Mac. We got to the superbowl WITHOUT him last year, and we didn't win it WITH him. So, yes, losing him does affect our superbowl chances this year, but we don't really have a chance this year anyway. He wasn't going to play for the Eagles next year anyway; so what if he's not around the rest of this season? It won't hurt us; we are already having a bad season. Good riddance, T.O. Go screw up some other team.

McNabb probably had nothing to do with this decision. Very few organizations would put up with what T.O. has done. Calling out one of the best quarterbacks in the game today is not only foolish, it's insane and childish. If football is a business (and it is), then shouldn't T.O. have willingly upheld the contract he signed only one year ago?

WHAT? Are you a little nutty? T.O. Had NO business talking smack about his teammates. Just like Andrew said, talk smack about your friends and then two days later give a rather non-heart felt apology and see how your team reacts. Katie, glad T.O. is gone. What an ass.

I'm disappointed that this is not in the "2005-2006 NFL Official Season" Thread. This douche bag does not deserve his own thread. Then again he may need his name disconnected from the NFL. Today I watched the press conference live on Comcast while working at the election. His house is only a few towns over from mine. I wish someone threw a rock at Drew Rosenhaus. Maybe j/o would have admitted he was running for New Jersey Governor today; a write-in for the EAGLES Green Party. They actually showed footage of a pizza boy delivering a pizza to T.O.'s Moorestown, NJ house. He did not take the $5 tip. He knew just how badly Terrell needed it. The idiot should have given his apology Friday, not today. Goodbye, It's T-Over.

So how do you get sucky out of that?
I'm sorry for insulting your team coasterlove so let me correct myself. The Bears have a great defense, no doubt. But, as you know their offense isn't that great. They did a good job getting Muhammad and Thomas Jones has really stepped up, but even with those weapons they can't get it done. When I said the Bears I was mistaken because I really should have said the Bears need a franchise QB rather than T.O. So, I'm sorry for insulting your team, becuase their D is outrageous but the offense is not that great. Going back to the Raiders, do you really think two cocky and arrogant WRs could share catches and get along? I don't think so. T.O. will either be picked up by a team who DESPERATELY needs a good WR or he won't be picked up at all. Nobody is going to want this guy in their locker room, and those who do are going to take the same chance the Eagles did. |

It would be nice if I could get a replacement Reebok jersey name tag. The second use of the 81 jersey I have is that it symbolizes 1981 when I was born.

That's one reason I'm always hesitant to buy jerseys with player's name and numbers on it. Free agency, trades and everything else are so common in sports now compared to days in the past. It seemed like just 10, 15 years ago that marquee players stayed with their original team for their whole career. The only players I've bought jerseys of is Michael Jordan-Bulls black, red and white (all #23) and a blue Washington Wizards jersey. The other is Kirk Hinrich (red) also of the Chicago Bulls. The other jerseys I've bought is a Chicago Blackhawks jersey without a name or number. I've also bought a lot of college football jerseys and one college basketball jerseys. Sorry, that was almost completely off topic.

I'm of the opinion that he deserves to sit the rest of the season....and if all of the teams thought the way that I did he would never play for another team in the league. The only problem is that one team will be dumb enough to offer him another long term deal only to see him pull the same stunt. Plus his agent doesn't help matters.....Drew Rosenhaus (sp?) is an arrogant punk that's trying to look for his own wallet.
