Deer hunting and Karma

My group of 4 hunters were able to down 2 bucks (8 and 6 pointers) and a nice doe. We called it a day at noon on Sunday. So then I got in my car to head back home. I got about 6 miles from my in-laws place where I was gonna pick up some meatballs for my wife. That's where I got another buck; this one with my car. Totalled it.

Karma anyone?

For now, my in-laws were kind enough to borrow me a car to make the 3 hour trip back to the twin cities. I'm took yesterday off of work to go out and look at new vehicles. Hopefully I'll have one by the end of the week.

I went deer hunting last year and got my first one! Although, that is not a usual because I duck hunt. Last week, after my dad and some friends went hunting my dad almost hit a deer, very scary!

It was an 8 point buck that did that to the car. The deer kept on a running after the hit, but I can't imagine he went far. We know it was an 8 pointer cause after they pryed the hood open yesterday, they found 1/2 his rack under the hood. I'm thinking of mounting it on the hood as a trophy.

You deserve it.

And thank you for showing off your anti-christ license plate. I hope you go to hell.

I hate deer with a passion. Nearly ran into a buck this morning. I have come within inches of hitting deer, so my dream car for driving during deer season will be one of those you see in the demolition derbies. The one reinforced with concrete all around. Yeah, let's see Bambi or his/her dad wreck that car.

Please tell me you're not serious.

First off, let me tell you the story of that plate. The car was a 95 so after having it about a year, I needed to get new plates. I went to the DMV in my hometown since there would be no wait compared to the Minneapolis ones. I walk in and the lady tells me I can either wait about 6 weeks for one and have a piece of paper in my window til then, or I can have this plate she has there that's been returned 3 different times. I asked her why and she showed it to me. Not being a deeply religious man anymore, I figured a 666 would be easy to remember and nothing more so there we go. The lady tells me that one guy that brought it back actually brought a bible with him to explain why. Eh, thought it was no biggie and off we went. Got grief from a few people I know, but otherwise uneventful.

So in short, I'm lazy, but no satanic, anti-christ worshipper, but thank you for telling me I deserved to be endangered in a car accident based on the numbers of my plate.

As to the moose comment, a buddy of mine smacked a young moose on his way to Canada fishing with his new club cab Chevy 1 ton. Totalled it. That was far worse than mine. Wish I could find those pics.

If that's not ironic, then I dont know what is.

Glad to hear you're alright, though.

My friend got hit by a deer (or a deer got hit by her) in a little Carolla and she ended up in a ditched upside down.

Someone has to hunt the animals. Though, I do understand if you are a vegitarian and you don't believe in hunting animals and stuff.

Well, it depends on which way you look at hunting. In a big way, hunting is good because biomes can get over populated by the organism and cause the biome to have less resources and less shelter therefore, the animals are required to move from their old biome to a new biome that could have predators in it. Also, I understand that if you're vegitarian and/or you believe killing animals for food is bad.

 Yes deer hunting, such a terrible thing. You must not live in an area with many deer, around me there are deer everywhere. If not for hunting we would be overrun. Deer would be everywhere eating even more of our crops and hitting even more of our cars. Everyone I know has hit or been hit by a deer (more frequently the latter), in fact my sister almost got run into by a deer whilst driving home last week. I see at least 5 deer every morning on the way to school. Without hunting there would be so many deer that we would be overrun. Plus deer jerky tastes really damn good.

Quite frankly, if deer went extinct, it wouldn't hurt my feelings. It would make it safer to drive to work in the winter. Their population does have to be controlled.

I'm not big on deer hunting if it's done just for fun. Although this isn't the place to get into it in my opinion. It's just good to hear you weren't totaled along with your car Drewbie.

We hunt for food. We eat what we shoot and that's why we do it. You can't condemn me for that any more than for me eating a crispy chicken salad at a local restaurant. I don't glorify my kills my mounting thier bodies or heads on my walls, I just kill them and eat them like a guy that splits open the husk of a growing corn cob to gnaw on it's juicy kernals.

On another note, at 1:00 today I pick up my "new" car. It's an '03 Toyota Highlander. Got a sweet deal on it and it's only got 34,000 miles. Big interior to carry my meat home in too!

I'm glad to hear that your ok Drewbie. I personally have no problem with hunting, but I kinda understand where MachChunk is comming from. Heck, my Uncle and 1 of my Cousins hunt for deer and I'm dying to try it with them sometime ;) On another note, I also have no problem with your liscense plate since I'm a Wiccan, and do not believe in the Devil.

First of all, do you eat meat? Or are you a vegaterian? If you are a vegaterian I could understand, but if you eat meat what exactly is the difference between hunting deer and slaughtering a cow?

Second off, theres this thing called Chronic Wasting Disiese going around in Wisconsin. Millions of deer have this disiese and its spreading all around the state. Their population is rising and with the epidemic going on we are helping it end.

I'm not sure, I'm guessing you were likely referring to MachChunk but just in case you weren't, I wasn't condemning you. Seeing as you hunt for the food as well, I have no venison with that. (Pun)

hmm....I wouldn't want to hunt or kill another animal unless I was starving and had no food of my own to make or eat. Good thing that your ok though. I'm a crazy one if I'd see a hunter I'd be asking him a lot of questions to why he hunts...etc. . . I just question too much and I guess if the hunter didn't have a good answer then I'll hunt the hunter. I think there is a movie where a human being hunts other human beings on island or something.

The movie/book is The Most Dangerous Game, but that guy hunted humans because he was bored with other animals, not because he was getting back at the hunters for killing animals.
