| NYC subway/transit help
I'm sure there's several people on here that would be able to help me with this. I'm meeting someone from CT in NY. I'm coming from NJ. We're going to 61st Street & 1st Avenue. We could both drive directly there, but that costs a lot for bridges, plus we'd each have to pay for parking. Is the Triboro Bridge $4.50 one way, or you have to pay both ways? Perhaps we could meet at Exit 3 or so, off of 95 in NY, just past the GW Bridge, and leave one car somewhere, (shopping center or something). Then where could we go from there? Any ideas for making this cheap and easy for me? Should/Could a bus or subway be part of it? Thanks for any help. |

I am from New York City, if you don't want to drive, you can take the NJ Transit from New Jersey, or park somewhere and take the PATH from Hoboken. You would take that to 42nd Street - Grand Central. Get off, and head over the the Subways, purchase a Metrocard, and take the Uptown (4) train to 59th street. Since the Lexington Avenue Line is the only main one on the east side, you would have to walk 3 blocks east and 2 north. The (6) train will also get you from 42nd Street - Grand Central to 59th Street, but that is a local train, and the (4) train will only take one stop to get to 59th Street. If you plan on going anywhere else around the city, this subway map might help: http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm Post back if you have anymore questions.
