American Movies

Here are some things that american movies learns other countries!
(note: i'm not saying its all true!)

I'm not from america and from watching movies a noted the following:

- In every police investigastion you have to make a turn in a strip club.
- Every phone nmber starts with 555
- beds have specil blankets that reach to the top of the chest for the woman and only to the waist of men
- Anybody can land an airplane if someones in the conrol tower is talking to you
- Woman's lipstick can't come off, no matter what
- if you need to reload a pistol you always have more ammo
- you'll alwyas survive a war except when you have a photo of a loved one with you
- you can see the eiffel tower out of evry window in paris
- you can unlock any door with a needle or credit card except the doors of a house which is on fire with a child inside

Most of these is in almost evry movie...

The reason phone numbers in movies/TV always start with 555 is because if you dial 555, it won't reach anyone. Using numbers that start with 555 prevents viewers from trying to dial the number and annoying whoever happens to have that number.

At least you didn't say were all cowboys. I hate that stereotype!

the reason that they always see the eiffel tower in paris scenes is because without it the American public wouldn't recognize where it took place. same with Big ben and london, or the tower of piza in Italy.

I see movies sometimes and have no idea where they take place.

everything in our movies is over exagerated (sp?) to enhance viewer interest/entertainment.
....or the tower of piza in Italy.
If people really need to see The Leaning Tower of Pisa to know setting is Italy, then you realyl need to get cultured. How about The Roman Colleseum, or The Venice Canals? I'm pretty sure if people saw those they would know it's Italy.
Not to mention the architecture of some of the old homes, or even the Vatican (yes, I know technically Vatican City is a country, but it's inside of Italy)

You dont need a landmark to know where the movie takes place, usually it tells you. But if there is no description of where you are you use either landmarks, names of shops and stores, country flag, language they are speaking. Only stupid people NEED landmarks and descriptive titles, you can usually guess where it is at anyways.
