How much shopping have you go left to do?

So (if you celebrate a holiday with gift giving) how much shopping have you got left to do?

Also, do you wait till the last minute or get it out of the early?

I actually have all of my Christmas shopping done already :D

I'm actually a bit late in starting this year. I've got a few things for the kids, and I'm almost done with our Angel Tree kids this year. But I've barely begun on the rest. However, today is payday, so I'll be out this weekend trying to get most of it done when I'm not doing the volunteer work I've got booking me up.

Package mailing will be at the end of next week probably. Then I'll have a bit I'll probably have to finish up for locals between the 16th and 20th with the next paycheck. Should be done with plenty of time to spare.

There should be a 75% option for those who are almost done but not quite. ;) Not that I'm one of those who are. I haven't even started yet and usually don't until around the 20th or so. I then make a mad scramble to the mall and shop. It's not even so much the money or that I don't like going to the mall or shopping itself.

I never know what people really like or want most times. So I feel that I'm wasting money honestly since I know the clothes I buy for people will just end up tucked away in a closet or will just line the bottom of a dresser somewhere. And at the same time, a lot of the stuff I get in return is stuff that doesn't fit me well or isn't really my style.

With friends, it isn't much better in some ways. We make lists for each other to pick from. We set a budget so that everything stays even and keeps everything simple and from any confusion or anger later. What did bother me though is that last year I made very detailed lists so it would be easy to choose from and understand. At the same time, I went and looked for their gifts and put some effort into finding some of the things they wanted.

So what did they turn around and do? They just went the simple route and got me gift certificates. It was a little upsetting because of the time and effort I put into it. If I had gotten them a certificate as well which would basically be an even exchange, it's sort of like what's even the point then? And on top of that, with the budget we set, I didn't include tax in that. So if the limit is $50, I might buy them a game for $49.99 and with tax it comes out to about $55. Not to mention if I was getting something other than a game, I usually go just a little over $50 so as not to be cheap or cheating them so to speak.

So I might buy $55-60 depending on the exact total. Add the tax and it comes out to maybe $60-65. So I spent more, went through the work of finding and getting what they wanted whereas they just buy me a gift card as an afterthought. It's almost sort of offensive really. So this year, I'd really rather not buy anyone anything and just say no gift exchange except for those I really have to.

It just gets to be too much work, too much hassle and I rarely enjoy what I get from anyone and them the same of what I got for them. I'd rather buy my own stuff. Nobody knows what I like more than me.

Well, I do have to get my sister a birthday present (or at least I should), but I don't really have any shopping I need to get done. It's this time of year that makes me really grateful I'm Jewish.

I'm about 10% done, but Im not buying a lot this year. University has left me close to bankrupt. I'm only buying for my parents, grandparents, and girlfriend (already bought) this year.
I haven't even started yet
So why did you vote "0% left - I'm finished"

Just for that, you can't play any practical jokes on April 1st. lol

I can explain...honest.

I posted and then later on went to vote. I had forgotten the exact wording of the question and was thinking it was how much shopping you have done which would be 0%. The second I hit enter, I remembered but it was already too late when I hit "back". Too bad you can't edit that. I knew somebody would call me on it. ;)

Doesn't matter, just pretend I voted later when I am actually done.

Likely story.

40 lashes for you.

Oh and I'm going to go kill an abortion clinic doctor for kicks. After all I am a Southern Baptist and that's what we do on weekends.

Uhhh...ok. I'll pretend I know what you're talking about. And you better hope there isn't an abortion clinic doctor killed or you'll be a prime suspect.

Only thing left is gifts for the parents....which is the hardest gift to get.
