| | | My photo site passes 30,000 views! I was looking around my "site" where I keep my pics online for anyone to view: http://community.webshots.com/user/carowindsflyer and to my surprise my photos have now been viewed over 30,000 times!
I was shocked to say the least. I've only had them on there for maybe a year and a half, two years tops.
Most of those views come from my friends here at TN. So thanks! While I don't make any money (of course) off of the site, it's still cool to think that anyone would want to view my pics that many times. :D
Oh and if you haven't checked them out, be sure to. Why? Because otherwise you'll get a lump of coal in your stocking. lol ;)

| | | Hey that's really cool. 30,000 views is a lot.
I think I might have counted for a couple of those views myself. |

| | | I notice that you must pay for the yearly fee. Do you find its worth it? I've considered it because I'd love to have more photos up then the 240 limit, but I'm not sure if 30 or 40 bucks a year is worth it.
How many can you upload if you pay?

| | | Webshots is 30-40 bucks? If so I'd just use smugmug - it's the same price and the best I've come across so far |

I find it's worth it. Plus it's not $30 a year, I think it's more like $19.99 or something. Seems like it came out to $2.10 a month which is nothing really.
Seems like the limit is something like 10,000 pics, but I can't remember right off hand.

| | | Smugmug has been a great value for me. It runs about $30 for the year, but you can reduce that by $5 every time you refer someone to them (last year was nearly free for me), and it's $25 the first year if you use a referal from someone.
No limit to how many pictures you can put up, or how much space you use. None. And you, or anyone else, can order prints of your pictures, backups on DVD, etc.
Lots of customization features, including some photo editing, captions, comments, layouts, colors, etc.
Groups where you and other people with similar interests can link your photos together.
Huge bandwidth allowances. Honestly, I can't recommend smugmug enough. It blows the rest of the services away. Especially if you're getting lots of views, have a lot of pictures, or using bandwidth. Right now I've got almost 6 gigs of pictures uploaded there, with more waiting in the wings, and an average of around 70,000 hits, or about a gig of bandwidth, a month on it.
Rates go up by about $10/ year after the first though. So if you're looking at moving there, better do it soon.

| | | Yeah, it's fun to have your pics viewed by others.
My HHN15 pictures were direct linked by spanish message boards. I didn't mind because I have a ton of bandwidth. Plus yahoo and google have automated crawlers that catalog the pictures.
And just now someone called me at work asking if I needed help with my web site. Huh?
So yeah, if you leave your stuff up long enough, people will find it. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
