Right now it's 37 and light rain is falling up here in New York City. I would say we are having a semi-mild January for being towards the North of the nation.

^ I enjoy the snow as well. Just looking out the window and seeing the flakes come down amuses me. However snow in cities just gets disgusting. It gets all black and nasty with dirt flung from the road, car oil, trash, dog piss, and everything else.

Here in OK it is cold but it fluctuates from cold to cool to partially warm and it is also very dry. We need rain desperately and there are fires breaking out everywhere. I believe that they are slowly beginning to get them under control but firefighters from all around us have been coming in to help fight the fires.

I am out there watering the yard in the middle of winter! That's crazy.

we'll return to way above average 60s for next week though, leaving us to wonder when it'll cool off enough to snow and get me out of school

good news! panthers lucked out in the weater at the meadowlands in e. rutherford, nj this weekend - 40s and sunny, no inclement weather which is a very good thing..

Our forecast this week for portions of southern Texas.

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClic...x=72&map.y=182

Right now, it's 108 degrees just to the west of us with the heat index of 111. But later this week, a cold front is going to send our temperatures plunging way down to about 97-98 degrees.

auuuugh. Where I am (Southeast Texas, North of Houston) we've hit the 90s already. It's too early, if you ask me. It's 92*, but it feels like 94*. Noooo, no summer weather yet for me! I want my windy, cold days! (This is only the beginning, I would say 'the tip of the iceberg' but it doesn't fit.)

We actually hit 88 here yesterday. I was lovin it. Nice and warm with no humidity!! Today we had a "SEVERE THUNDERSTORM" warning ... Yeah, I think we got about a half inch of rain. No lightning, no thunder. So much for the big bad storm.

A high of around 70* today. There's a 40% chance of Severe weather tommorow with a slight chance of Tornadoes.

^Don't you love Tornado Alley?

Here, its been anywhere from the low 70s (highs) to the high 30s (lows). Gotta love Ohio. But this means no more winter jackets, and beautiful coeds showing more skin.

Near Record Heat Triggering Power Outages

Near Record Heat Triggering Power Outages
LAST UPDATE: 4/17/2006 5:10:55 PM
Posted By: CyberBob
This story is available on your cell phone at mobile.woai.com.

The record heat has over-taxed San Antonio’s energy generating capacity, and rolling outages are taking place – not only here, but over a large portion of Texas. Pockets of San Antonio are experiencing 15-minutes outages as CPS Energy scrambles to find enough capacity to serve the entire city. These rolling outages are expected to continue until after sundown.

At this time there is not sufficient generating capacity in the region to reliably serve the public's electricity demand. It is extremely urgent that all electricity customers in the region reduce their use of electricity to the lowest level possible. This includes…

* Making sure your thermostat is set at 78° or higher in the summer.
* Don't use any electric lighting, appliances or equipment unless absolutely necessary for health or safety.
* Don't open refrigerators and freezers more than necessary.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is doing everything possible to return to normal operations. ERCOT is the corporation that administers a portion of Texas' power grid serving approximately 85 percent of the state's electric load, including San Antonio.
I don't live in SA so this doesn't affect me. But this is really weird.

It has cooled down quite a bit from last weekend. Highs around my area are:

Brownsville -- 89
Corpus Christi -- 86
Laredo -- 97
McAllen -- 92
Victoria -- 89

A big cool down from the widespread 100-105 degrees we saw last weekend.
