On Saturday, we're looking at highs in the upper 80s for our area; some spots just south of us will hit 90 degrees again, and overnight lows near 70 degrees....before another storm system comes through on Monday and knocks our temps back down again.

It is 45º right now in New York City. We should expect some unseasonably warm weather on Sunday and Monday with highs in the low sixties.

Here are some extreme southern winter climate fun facts that I thought I'd point out:

-- Miami, Florida has never fallen below freezing in its history.

-- Brownsville, Texas all-time record low temperature is 23 degrees, which happened in 1881....has not gotten that cold since then.

-- Texas boasts the only state in the nation that has recorded 100+ degree temperatures in all of the 12 calendar months. Falcon Heights, Texas has recorded highs of 101 in December, 102 in January, 104 in February, and 111 in March.

-- 90s in December and January are fairly uncommon in Texas and Florida, but we have seen it happen many times.

-- Laredo, Texas, on annual average, is the warmest city in America.

-- While it is virtually unheard of this far south, it has snowed in portions of southern Florida and Texas. Corpus Christi's previous snowfall before the (miraculous, record-obliterating 3.9 inches that fell on) Christmas Eve 2004 occured in 1941 (almost 64 years before then). On Christmas Eve 2004, the cities of McAllen and Brownsville in Texas got their first snowfall ever recorded at 1.2 inches. I was in San Antonio that day, where they got nothing, so it remains I still have yet to see snow in my lifetime -- probably won't get to see it ever. In Florida, it has snowed as far south as Cape Canaveral, Orlando, and the Tampa Bay area.

The normal January temps for Brownsville, Texas are 53 lows and 71 highs

For Miami, Florida, the normal January is 62 lows and 73 highs.

Right now, there are Tornado Warnings from the town of Raymondville, Texas (about 48 miles north of Brownsville) and extending north to Kingsville, Texas (30 miles SW of Corpus Christi).

Most of our area is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

A surface low appeares to be stalling for a while before progressing up the Texas coast during Christmas Eve and Day. Which means we are looking at severe weather here lasting until the day after Christmas.

There is a warm front and a dry line between Corpus Christi and Bownsville. North of the front, we're currently at cold 57 and a Wind Chill of 49 degrees, while Brownsville, south of it, is at a milder 73 for their high today. After the warm front passes tomorrow, our temps should moderate closer to normal for us; Our Christmas Day forecast is 66 degrees, and continually getting milder after that as we close out the year back in mid 70s.

Never seen snow, wow. I don't think that I would like that.

Unfortunetly in Southern IL. we are not going to have a white Christmas It will be in the 50's on Christmas day. But In my life time there has been I think about 10 time we had snow on Christmas day. But the other times we always see it in January.

It is 53º right now in New York City. We got a nice dusting of snow late last night, but it dried up before ten o'clock the next morning.

^ More like a few feet.

At this time, a surface high pressure in the Gulf of Mexico is drawing more tropical moisture into our Texas coast, but there is also an upper-level low in New Mexico bringing drier heat from our west. And what this is doing is setting up another dryline condition over Texas combined with the uplift of the moist air from the surface, which means more severe weather and tornadoes happening in our area.

Take a look at the surface chart and the 500 MB chart and notice the low pressure over the desert southwest.

Right now, several counties in Texas are under a Tornado Warning. Most of the state is under a tornado watch until tomorrow.

What a way to end the year.

It's a mild 55º here in New York City. We should see some showers tomorrow, however the high is projected to be 62º.

Saturday is expected to get up to 70º! That is very unusual for January in NYC and pretty much the whole North East is experiencing unseasonably high temperatures.

Tomorrow, it'll be 73 degrees for Corpus Christi, and 81 degrees for Brownsville, McAllen, and Laredo. These are just slightly warmer than normal (about +5 degrees above) for January.

Is that a car or a polar bear?

Unfortunately, we haven't seen enough snow to last a full week yet.

Right before the next cold front arrives tomorrow and knocks us back to jacket weather for us, it is currently 80 degrees right now with a heat index of 88 in our area.

This is the same cold front that has just crippled Oklahoma and Kansas with a half-inch of freezing rain and icy conditions.

I supposed to be wearing a jacket to watch the EAGLES game with the neighbors in the garage. It's too mild, humid.

GODFORBID Jimmy...

Right now, I pray for a blizzard to cripple Texas. 8 inches ought to do. Heck, I'll take 4 inches in Northeast Ohio myself.

North Texas is already getting hit hard with freezing rain right now....forecasted as far south as Austin and possibly San Antonio overnight tonight (first time since four years ago they will have gotten frozen precipitation of any kind) and freezing temperatures expected briefly across central Texas early morning on Monday.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has temporarily shut down due to the freezing rain with hundreds of cancelled flights.

We've got one more day of mild temperatures (80 is forecast high) today before the cold front sends them close to freezing tomorrow night.

The cold front is between Corpus Christi and San Antonio, as evident earlier this morning by 48 degrees in San Antonio and 72 degrees here right before noon. We're looking at very cold lows in the upper 30s for Monday and Tuesday night and more rain during that time.

The roads and sidewalks here are solid ice, it took me twice as long as it usually does to walk to the bus stop. Weird thing is that even though the buses got me to school in record time they were driving at a much lower speed.

It's still freezing rain outside and is expected to turn to snow later this afternoon. Finally starting to feel like a Canadian winter.

Finally winter has set in...and it's about time in my opinion. It seems like most commutes in Toronto are double. I only saw one car ditched this morning on the highway and it appeared to be self-inflicted.

Hooray! My entire area of Texas is under an Ice Storm Watch. It has already precipitated sleet and freezing rain.

I think swimming practice has been canceled...
